Very solid start for F4, if not fantastic. :ehh:

The real test will be to see how it holds up over the next few weeks. No major blockbusters coming out in August, but a number of different releases to draw attention away.
Domestic is going to have to save it as the overseas just isn't there right now.

Said it in another thread a couple weeks ago. China/Russia/South Korea are mostly dead for Hollywood. China used to be easily the second biggest market for Hollywood, now only a select few movies make any real money there. Politics has a lot to do with it. Russia is obvious. South Korea has abandoned Hollywood for streaming.

Europe has also been on the decline for some genres but I'm not willing to write them off yet. If you're Hollywood, you want your movie to make as much as it can domestic because that's where they receive well over 50% of the gross in the first two weeks of release. In other territories, it's less than 50%. China used to be more like 25%.

damn it's over. might gross less than thunderbolts

It ain’t over, but definitely not a good look either. All them subpar Disney+ entries and feature films over the years got Marvel’s last two outings looking like sacrificial lambs at the box office when these movies would’ve easily been just fine had the brand not destroyed fan trust so much.

80% drop :damn: (means probably 70ish for the weekend?)

That's egregious for a movie which got reviewed well, I did see my IG flooded with some shyt about Pedro Pascal being creepy to women but I didn't really pay attention to it. Wtf happened.

There was a time when the GA would go catch anything with the Marvel Studios logo attached but those days are long gone.

I remember when I went to go see The Marvels on preview night and bruh…you would’ve thought I was catching a screening of an A24 indie with how sparse it was in there. I kid you not, I only heard one gasp in that whole theater when Kelsey Grammer cameo’d as Beast and it came from the dude sitting a few seats over from me, with a hand over his mouth as if he just witnessed Thanos snap his fingers for the first time.

I didn’t hate the movie but I walked out of that theater thinking damn, this is where we’re at now huh?

It is over. It was always going to be over after Endgame as the fan attachment was never going to be there on that level again. Those budgets should have came down and them using lesser names to help.

People might want to temper those expectations on how Doomsday and Secret Wars will do.
