Good thread. I am starting to become more and more into nutrition as a way of improving all aspects of life and community so this is very interesting info.
Ditto. I'm young so I'd like to imagine I can eat whatever the fukk I want, which is true, but before you know it you're no longer young. Also I believe us black folk are extra susceptible to this fukk shyt that enters our bodies which is why negus be kicking the bucket at 50 from eating all this "soul food". And finally you are what you eat, no doubt about it.

Really wish I could look into this. I'd love to be able to have a more informed look into nutrition.

It's super simple... eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as you can, in as many varieties as you can. Drink lots of clean water. And when eating/drinking anything processed do so in moderation. Do that and you'll be fine.

If you want to go further switch to whole grains when you can (especially for breads and pastas), do stuff like Quinoa or cous cous instead of rice when you can. Cut down on sugars. Scale back eating meat to once a day, and try to eat your heaviest meal for lunch.

If you want to go even further start looking at your stress levels and your thought patterns and emotional patterns, because those have a great effect on health as well. Get lots of sunlight and fresh air. Light exercise should be a part of your daily routine, ideally in the morning. Try and do things you enjoy throughout the day, with people you enjoy. Get good sleep. Etc, etc.

There's many levels to health obviously, but again, just the first paragraph with the raw foods and clean water is a great foundation. And if you're looking for reading material on the subject you should definitely check out the books posted by S. Playa. Also try and get some more recent material because knowledge in this area is constantly evolving.

Folks over think this stuff lol every so called black health guru gives info that conflicts with the next persons info.

Our ancestors ate high carb moderate protein moderate fat diets. The easiest way to do this is to limit processed foods, pretty much if the food wasnt grown or killed and cooked then lower your intake on it. When i do eat processed foods i typically fast the next day.

Also we eat too much, our ancestors tended to eat 1-2 meals a day, in america we are eating literally 4-6 times a day, not even when we are hungry but when we see food we eat. We are literally taking to form of Hogs when you look at how the avg american is built.

And i will agree we eat too much meat. Imo red meat should be eaten WAY less, i probably eat it 1-2 times a month, but even then if you eat red meat i wouldnt eat meat the following day just cause it takes longer to digest. Im not Anti pork either but i dont mess with it besides if i get a sandwich or something that has bacon on it.

What are you guys thoughts on things like multi vitamin? I have taken them for years but i noticed most sports supplements are formulated for white folks who require different doses of things. For example bodybuilders preach high protein but look at our ancestors they were muscular by nature same with us so imo we shouldnt really be following western dietary rules as they arent meant for us.

You'd be better off getting a superfood in powder form and adding it to your water/almond milk/smoothies.

Moringa, Chlorella, Wheatgrass, Alfalfa, Black Seed Powder, Dandelion Root, etc, etc > any multi-vitamin
