What up @WEED

I don't need an entire documentary though to know that bringing out NWA in spite of Public Enemy's popularity was a chess move by music execs.
I hear u family. And ur right, it was. He talks about a few other things as well regarding the music industry. The whole video in itself is excellent.

I disagree. NWA was not "created" to go against the messages put forth by "Self Destruction". It was young black men giving you the raw truth about what was going on in their part of America. And the white owned record labels saw they had a following and knew they could make money off of it. But it was not some grand scheme to divert the masses attention away from the Self Destruction message. Different people have different life experiences. That's why we have everything from DMX to the Fresh Prince. Oh and don't forget:

Now do the record execs CARE if anything they do has a negative impact on the black community? Fukk no. But that's different from INTENTIONALLY going out to have a negative impact on the black community. The only thing they care about is $$$$$$$$$$$.
Bro, if black people were statistically making paper moves on par with other races, the jail complex, and many other things would collapse the USA into shyt.

Don't be naive. It's chess not just checkers. White supremacy is about more than paper.

interesting, but NWA was there to start poisoning us, true, the real poison came in with DEATH ROW records, all the positivity was gone by then, but NWA played their part in that negativity, the execs signed them to do so. Yeah they did some good, but it was mostly bad. Even rapist, pedos, killers and so forth do SOME good SOMEtime, that is just human nature, but that doesn't excuse the negativity they do.

He wasn't denying that really, just whether those records execs were motivated for that reason.

But honestly that's the beauty/horror of these sorts of systems. They are self perpetuating and leave individuals largely guilt free. While there are people like Lee Atwater and Barry Goldwater who do tremendous damage alone, it's really the accumulation of thousands of little ignorable evils that create the system and inflict the most damage.

I just look at it as NWA was there to tell their story, and make money. The record label was there to make money. Look at these guys environment. What would you expect them to rap about? Sure, a more enlightened mind like a Kendrick Lamar will take it to another level, but everybody isn't built like that. Its always been hard for me to blame music for the downfalls of our community. First, the trials and tribulations of our community started LONG BEFORE rap music even existed. Frank Lucas and Nikki Barnes was moving that weight when Jay-Z was a little snot nose wondering why his daddy wasn't coming back home. If we are that influenced by rap music that we would let it take over our intellect and make us into lesser men, then we have a MUCH more serious problem that rap music.

You're idea still revolves around the notion that these music execs are white supremacists intending to destroy the black community. Jerry Heller doesn't give a dam about how many black men are in or out of jail. Jerry Heller cares about how many dead presidents are in his bank account.

The labels who signed them consciously knew what they were doing. They had a white supremacist agenda. Whether the members of NWA were aware of it or not is only known to them.

Who knows what Jerry Heller wants. Racism does exist, there are white people who take pleasure at the thought of black death, poverty and incarceration.

I believe they had a get rich agenda. For arguments sake, lets say this rap music has a significant negative impact on the black community (that's another conversation in and of itself, but lets say it does). If that's the case, I liken these white music execs to drug dealers. Did Frank Lucas wake up in the morning and say "let me see how I can destroy the black community today" OR did he wake up and say "let me see how many thousands of dollars I can make today"? Now as we all know, the drug trade has had a horrible impact on the black community, but was it Frank Lucas' plan to do that, or was it just a unintended casualty of his plan to make a lot of money?

I don't blame you for thinking like you do. 400 years of abominable racial history in this country has made us paranoid. Anytime we see a white person involved in any way where there may be some negative impact on blacks, we think its part of some master white supremacist plan. And trust there are still white supremacists out there but what I see for the most part in 2015 is white men following the #1 American ideology which is GET RICH.
