NXT back to form with this Takeover - good matches all round.
Roode/Dillinger was a SOLID curtain jerker... I'm wasn't up on pre-NXT Bobby Roode, but he's got great presence and the entrance is an absolute banker at the start of a show. Tye's really connected with the crown in the last 12-14 months - I hope he can take some of this to the main roster, but I assume he'll be buried if/when he gets there.
I thought about skipping through the Dusty Classic final, but putting a manager in a cage always grabs my attention. Right result in an OK match - least memorable on a memorable night. Not because AoP are especially great, but because TM61 are completely fukking swagless in NXT and I don't understand the attraction in the slightest.
Revival Vs DIY - hold the fukkin phone. THIS IS WRESTLING *clap clap clap clap*. The best non-hardcore match I've seen all year and I'll fight you with naughty words if you disagree. I went in pretty sure DIY had to win, but I had ZERO idea by the end, would've accepted either result and was marking the fukk out. Like screaming at the TV marking out. Rewound the SUPERKICK INTO GERMAN about 5 times. Even in a time of great action and lacklustre finishes, the The Revival holding hands and tapping together was the perfect ending to this match AND their run. Ciampa and Gargano deserve the shine, but I don't see them as holding champs for too long - they're born chasers. The Revival really are the fukkin TRUTH.
Asuka/Mickie James - TSC seemed lukewarm on this one from what I've read in the thread, but I thought it was pretty good. I'd completely forgotten how good Mickie James' in-ring psychology is... kept me genuinely engaged the whole way through. Only real downsides were Mickie's struggle theme and the commentary completely fluffing the ending... Mickie probably could've waited a few seconds to tap, but it looked like they were going for a "realistic" MMA style finish - as soon as she had her in the hold she
had to tap, but the commentators were too busy talking about unrelated bullshyt to give us "It looks like she's trying for the Asuka Lock, can she get it cinched in? If she locks those fingers it's curtains for Mickie.... and is is ALL over!" - instead we got Graves rushing "Oh wait, is that a crossface chickenwing?" and it was over before he could even get the name of her finisher right. They completely failed both workers.
Shinsuke/Joe - Accidentally fell asleep and need to rewatch it, but from what I did see it looked decent and I'm not mad at the result as long as it's not just another reason to keep both of these men down.
Shinsuke's entrance may have jumped the shark a little, but the prospect of Wrestlemania entrances for Roode and Nakamura got me in a Twist like Oliver
