NY and NJ heads, what's it like to live around/deal with "Italians"?

I hardly see them at all even at mom & pop pizza shops you'll rarely see an actual Italian person working inside, most of the time it's white/foreign workers.

It's not like back in the days when Italians lived two blocks away from black people like you saw in the movies, majority of Italians live in the really far far parts of Brooklyn away from city nowadays.

I worked with and around them for over 10 years. I don’t remember having a negative experience because most were cool as shyt. They are conservative and still follow a family structure. If you have a daughter then she is named after the grandmother of the mother or something like that, and vice versa. That’s why you see them with names like Rosa and Giuseppe all the time.

It’s weird because the kids live with their parents until they’re ready to get married. Men and women almost 30 still living at home and they don’t have a problem with it. They have a strong bond with their mother.

If you’re from the Bronx then you know they are in the throggs neck and Pelham pkwy area. There is also a huge population in Larchmont where I worked.

Just like @Dip mentioned, it’s not weird at all and pretty normal.

Only true Americans find this weird. In reality most people find it weird that Americans are obsessed with struggling at early ages.

Papa doc i would understand becaus I know many people i respect that, while they shyt on Papa doc, also give him his props at the same time. Growing up in The Bronx and Harlem I hardly ever saw them

J.J. Barea is a prime example. Just like the Bronx is 43% black but 30% non-Hispanic black.

For ethnic whites they’re in the Belmont and Bronx Park East areas, immigrants from Albania and similar countries. Little Italy was overtaken by Albanians but a few old time Italians still live there and they’re deep with their small businesses like restaurants, pizzerias, butcher shops, stuff like that. Woodlawn, Throggs Neck, Riverdale are the remaining white enclaves with old school Irish, Italians, Jewish New Yorkers. The non-Hispanic white Bronx population is probably around 8-12%.

my pops brought his 1st house on the corner Glenwood back in ‘91 about a year and a half later brought another one off Flatlands (he was the 2nd black Caribbean nikka to move in Canarsie)
i remember helping him & a few of his co-workers move in the summer of 1991 : i took a break & walked down the street to the local store and passed a bunch of homes with Italian & other older white women with their grand kids staring at me like the boogie man in their front yards
the next time i visited him was Thanksgiving him & his wife threw a big dinner & when i walked down that same block every house was sold or had a sign for sale
(them mutherfukkers COMPLETELY moved out the whole entire neighborhood in less then 6 months)

Just came in to say my last girlfriend was Italian and my booty call from a month ago was Italian. Honestly I attract a lot of Italians, even more so than Hispanics nowadays. But these Italian girls I speak of don't look Sicilian, which is by far my favorite look on a woman.

Italians back in a day was a major problem - we basically hated each other
fortunately by the late 80’s a culture; a movement; a lifestyle started to blow-up called hip-hop and ever since then they became our 2nd cousins

My sister in law is Irish-Italian strong on the Italian side. They are basically like any other cac, just with strong familial roots.

The Italian girls I went to high shool with in Jersey were mostly loud and ghetto.

Most biracial kids I met up in the northeast (at least NY/NJ) are Black & Italian

They call themselves Puerto Rican. Foreigners tend to identify with nationality first. But what the hell do you think a pale face Rican, with brown hair, and green eyes is checking when they get to the race section of a census and they already checked off their ethnicity? Black Ricans check off black it goes both ways. A J.J. Barea is checking white, a Carlos Delgado is checking black.
