How long has it been like this brehs?

How did it come to this?

Why is this kind of fukkery allowed? Why haven't NY rappers pulled its card?

Serious questions...been listening to this shyt like :mindblown: How you not put on rappers from your own city?

It really is disgusting. There was a nore interview where he was speaking on it and made some great points. Somebody post it.

I remember as a kid turning on Hot 97,and hearing Jeru, Mobb, Nas, Rae, Boot Camp Click, Little Shawn, AZ, etc love shown to other regions too. That's the shyt that made me love this art form, and like my G said earlier they always had the exclusive tracks, interviews, freestyles etc. Sad the see this basrardized version

Bottom line is the listener in their demographic changed. Who gives a fukk why does radio matter to Yall in 2015?
Because looking for decent music w/o radio these days is a full time job.

Maybe I am just getting older but I dont really fukk with any new artists these days. Last new dude I still rock with is Kendrick and even he is ehhh. Ever since someone decoded how "Dont Kill My Vibe" was a high key Andre 3K rip I stopped checking for him. I dont fukk with drill, I dont fukk with trap, I dont fukk with homos like Young Thug and bytch Homo Twan. All them Roc Marciano Action Bronson dudes sound like store brand copies of old rappers I still rock with. Dont even get me started on them mainstream simps and "normal guy" losers. What's left? Where in rap is there any originality or technical depth? Only place I kinda get that still is battle rap and even that is getting played out now.

Yea Flex used to really break new artists. I heard Jay-Z, Nas, Mic Geronimo etc all on Flex show for the first time.

I have said it before but the real problem with rap these days is how open the platforms are. shyt is too open. Some nikkas should not be heard by the public.

Yea, that fact that we keep complaining about radio means there is an entire fanbase that is being ignored because the corporations think we died or moved on from rap, when that can be the furthest from the truth...

Because some of these clowns get hit off with money or get favors to push certain artists more than others. It's a sad thing actually. Or they're being told by the powers that be to push a certain agenda. Hip hop is no longer organic where you had regionalism with different sounds from different areas. That's where it was at its best

Exactly. I know a lot of dudes who listen to rap.... none of them listen to the radio. Huge missed opportunity.

Let's keep it all the way 100. We do. New Yorkers wanna feel like they Was on the moon. They wanna feel like they need a hunnid goons. Lookatdaflickofdawrist

I think thats why dipset and g-unit succeeded..

They all brung that "rebel"aspect that made nikkas want to be apart of a movement...

I dont get that "feeling"with these new nikkas...

Well this is another thing. No more crews. Everyone thinks they can be a star instead of playing their position to be part of something greater.

Low key G Unit and Dipset were catalysts for the downfall. They both made a lot of trap shyt acceptable/cool in NY instead of keeping it all NY but fresh.

Matter fact, u can pin much of NY's downfall on 50 completely. He had everyone beefing while the south was gaining momentum. By the time he fell off NY completely lost its identity. Had Fab rapping like 2 chains and wearing leather skirts :francis:

Na, dipset was 100% ny in character aside from the blood shyt which is deeper than rap.

Fab is one of the last authentic mainstream ny emcees left.
