A rent freeze doesnt stop landlords for overpricing a space. A 1,000 dollar a month value spot shouldnt be sold for 4,000 dollars a month for rent. Landlords just making extra money and a majority of them dont even put money to maintain and upkeep shyt. How many of these luxury and overpriced apartments have rodents, roaches, mold, issues with the pipe, lighting, heating and air and shyt? Give me a break. NYC is overexpensive and a lot of that has to do with the dumbass financially illiterate population gentifying all these areas that werent even upscale to begin with. Just people living in bubbles buying into an illusion basically being scammed for $$$ by greedy money hungry folks and corporations that will let the city go to shyt when they feel they no longer have a use for it and leave them behind. NYC is in trouble but then again they want to turn it into a smart city so they have plans.

I read somewhere that Revolution is something you learn as you go. Any bit of hope and any piece of resistance needs to applauded as away forward. Not the individual necessarily but the action itself . Hope is the beginning of the struggle and the struggle is so worthwhile

Yeah, that’s one of his iffiest policies because small business owners aren’t going for that. I’m not sure I even see the point. Will their prices really be lower? What neighborhoods are we talking about here even the most impoverished hoods have corner stores and supermarkets in range. How will it be efficiently managed and corruption limited? Will people really go to government owned stores over the familiarity and trust they have with the small businesses. The people in the city love their “Ocks” and “Papis”. Will culturally relative products be on the shelf or will it be generic ‘government cheese’ type products? Most these small businesses only make 2% profit and do all types of illegal shyt the community loves to make more $ (sell out of state cheaper cigs and loosies, money transfers from EBT card, hot food with EBT, giving credit). He says the stores could be profit-less, how is that supposed to work?
As for these landlords they don’t care how shoddy their shyt they’ll rent it for whatever the Section 8 voucher says and that shyt increases rents elsewhere
These landlords throw grey tiles down and throw in some stainless steel appliances and that’s grounds for charge a leg
