I didnt even read any of the article. Just based off your reaction, I was certain it was the NY Post, only for me to confirm it. They have the most unintelligible articles. I dont know how their shyt makes it past MS Office, let alone an editor.:francis:

They are strong but he is clearly breaking the rules and they won’t protect him.

Unions in NYC agencies are really only good to get you benefits, guaranteed breaks, and pay raises. The only exception I is the Teacher’s Union that is a whole other beast.

As long as you are following rules and can prove it they will protect you. This man broke one of the Golden MTA rules and will be left to rot.

That's what I was thinking... Letting someone else drive the train is indefensible. He might have been better off getting some throat in the cab... But letting someone else drive? The union would have his back on all other stuff, but this one, they gonna hit him with the :hubie: and send him on his way. Especially considering the lawsuits that would come if someone had gotten hurt as a result

On another topic because I see people arguing about rent and whatnot,

I grew up in Manhattan and I’ve never heard anyone assume that “NYC” or “the city” meant Manhattan unless they were a tourist or only had a view of the city based on film / TV

It just meant you lived in one of the boroughs and then someone might ask a clarifying question as to what part - and people either answer with their borough or their neighborhood of that borough (e.g., UES, SoHo, Harlem).

In my experience, typically out of towners aren’t familiar with specific neighborhoods so you give them your borough and with locals, a lot of times you give your neighborhood

I dunno, fam; I grew up in Brooklyn, and always heard people talking about going "to the city" in reference to going into Manhattan. I grew up in Williamsburg/Bushwick so I don't know if that had anything to do with it due to the close proximity to Manhattan.

Yeah a few people here have said that. Language is interesting.

I guess context matters. If you live in one of the other boroughs and you say you're going to the "the city" then I get it implies Manhattan.

I guess another way of putting it is when I hear someone say they're from "New York City", I don't assume they are from Manhattan and I'd ask "oh what part of the city are you from?" to clarify what borough or neighborhood you're from

Nah, it's not just proximity to Manhattan. I grew up in East New York and whenever people would say they were going to "the city", they always meant they were going to Manhattan.
