It should be done on a case by case basis. If you're making music disrespecting someone's dead relative and even going as far as claiming a connection to the death, the absolute minimum a streaming platform should do is take the content down.

I'd personally ban all drill music. whether or not it would have an impact on crime is a separate matter. It's a stain on our community.

We can have this convo in this manner in a forum. But, litigating this in real life is a totally different manner.

Yes, if you're suspected of confessing real crimes on your Spotify/ TIDAL song. I get it.

Drill music has created a special nastiness.

But, it becomes a slippery slope where dudes fronting, get snatched up for crimes for trying to look cool online.

This "our community" stuff is another devil.

This ain't my people and nothing you say will make it so.

:cape:

If the kid is a mild mannered soft ass p*ssy he obviously won’t do shyt

If you think this shyt has no influence do you I’m not gonna sit here and try to change ya mind or talk about the at risk kids I worked with…I’ll just tell you they deep into the music and the image of being a gang member what they see in these music videos

They can get “sturdy” like them, wear a Pooh Shiesty mask like them, try to walk like them, talk like them but it has no influence :comeon:

Again, ya'll and this logic fallacies.

Because I'm against censorship, I believe rap music is ZERO effect on kid's behavior? I DEFINITELY was personal effected by Rap music. I was born in the NO and rasied in VA and using New York slang because all the Jay-Z and Fabolous I was listening to.

My problem is litigating the influence and how far ya'll wanna go.

We are gonna make the same mistake the ppl who rightfully wanted a Crime Bill in the 80's did.

If ya'll can't find a psychologist to actually link music to criminal behavior or have an actual plan for these bans, then you blowing smoke.

How music can change the way you feel and act - CNN

The content of these songs is about gang rivalry, and unlike other genres, the audience might judge the performer based on whether he will follow through with what he claims in his lyrics, writes the study’s author, Craig Pinkney, a criminologist and lecturer at the University College Birmingham, in the UK.

Beside music, the paper looks at social media’s role in fueling violence. The online platforms readily used by many, have given gang rivalries the chance to move online and encourage comments from supporters and opposing groups, which only adds to the pressure to react.

However, there are multiple reasons for the rise in crime, according to Pinkney. He explains that poverty, deprivation, racism, poor leadership, lack of corporate investments, lack of opportunities and resources also contribute.

Daniel Levitin, professor of psychology and music at McGill University in Canada, points out that it is difficult to analyze whether music can create violence.

They can't even prove it.

Yes, gang members taunting each other on IG and Twitter creates violence in the streets. So? Ban their accounts.

But, you gotta ban ppl sayign they hope Trump die. Ban ppl laughing at ppl dying of COVID. etc, etc.

It's a slippery slope ya'll never think past MAKE IT GO AWAY

No, I don't want to see people's death relatives being mocked on 10 million view videos. But, a outright ban isn't gonna fix that.

I'm on ya'll said, but, these politicians got ya'll chasing ghosts.

You give a bunch of violent mf internet access, they point violent shyt on it.

But, it's not hypothesing regular folk into demons shooting down opps.

If that's the case take it out of movies and tv shows. The visuals are more damaging.

More damaging than Black people listening to Black people sing and rap about murdering Black people?

It's pretty interesting watching brothers get so defensive because someone wants to stem the tide of media that traffics in Black death and hide behind "but censorship"

But he can probably get the social media sites to censor the content.

He doesn't have to go after the artists.

But, he and the district attorneys can legally go after IHeart Radio (Power 105), Emmis Communications (Hot 97), YouTube, Twitter, Facebook/Instagram/Meta, Soundcloud, Viacom, Starz and all other media platforms that sell advertising and subscriptions for programming content destructive to the community.

You don't have a constitutional right to profit from yelling fire in a crowded theater.

Careful or you'll draw lazy comparisons between the content these "rappers" produce and the content Keanu Reeves produces.

It has an influence no matter how minor influence is influence.

Drill could disappear there would still be crime of course I know that. Doesn’t mean that drill should be allowed to live with impunity or that we should be cool with it.

The mayor should be outraged.

The community should be outraged. If you’re a parent of a child in the Bronx you shouldn’t want your child listening to it.

Chii Wvttz, the drill rapper that just got killed just had his father come out and say drill is the devil’s music yeah contrary to popular belief a lot of these dudes do have men in their lives.
