I'm not even Adams fan. But you guys are fukking dumbasses if you're scared of these empty threats of censorship. You should have stayed in school. Drill music is going nowhere.

Eric Adams is a clown, but you're more fukking stupid to take these threats seriously.

They’re not small players

One is the go to drill platform for up and comers and the other is the white hip DJ that’s responsible for breaking local artists on the radio late night

We talking about drill not trap…real trap music don’t even exist anymore
Why is it so complicated for you to understand, that the government cannot dictate which and what music can be created, played and performed??

That's the point. These individual DJs might have felt the pressure, but that was on them. They weren't forced to by the government.

OnTheRadar listened.

DJ Drewski from Hot 97 listened.

To be honest, mix show DJs have a little more leeway in their playlists

I worked for Universal & did college radio many years ago. I know what calls are made to who when certain songs don't get spin$$ on the regular playlist

To get change it's labels, stations, then sponsors & parent companies of both. But if they feel there's money being left on the table, they will fight under the 1st Adment.

Which is of course the main reason political candidates on all sides receive donations

Is Spotify an executive in the government?? :dahell: do you know what censorship means?

If Eric Adams or the City Council enacted a law banning Brooklyn drill in NY, it would get laughed out of court.

Yes, I do know what censorship means and Mayor Adams isn't talking about enacting laws, he actually cited Trump being banned from Twitter for violating their terms of service which suggests he would try something similar in the case of these drill videos that masquerade as "entertainment".

Why are you in support of videos depicting nothing but black men killing eachother? are you an agent?

Govt cannot ban speech however individuals who object of certain actions can pressure PRIVATE entities to not disseminate this type of music or speech. It is as simple as that. Eric Adams, although the mayor (public sector municipal govt figure), can have a speech where he can have a speech and mobilize ppl and opinion to pressure these private entities without enacting laws (which he can't because that is the job of the legislative body) to stop disseminating this type of content.

Above the fray.
In 5 4 3 2 1, thread is full of ppl pulling stats from international cities murder rates or the rates of violent crimes back in the 1990s to minimize the problem. Listen there tons of young Black men dying of this shyt. I do not care whether the murder rate is 2,000 or 400. It is alarming when the LEADING cause of death in the young men (1-44) in our community is homicide :

From the CDC-Leading Causes of Death-Non-Hispanic Black Males 2017

That is problematic. Some of you pointing out on how you have never committed a crime but still listened to this music. The point is to care about the most vulnerable in our midst and that is truly the litmus test on how a community and society functions. The strength and worth of a community is how they treat and solve the problems of their most vulnerable.
People started googling random int. cities to dodge the point that was made about the homicide rates in the areas where this music is being produced.
I can't believe the Coli is this stupid about censorship :dahell: Do you remember the Supreme Court cases vs the 2 Live Crew????

Private business can decide not to do business with any reason outside of any reasoning protected under the 14th amendment. But the government can't make rules that restrict speech. Music is considered speech.

There are street gang laws in the state and the city. The artists have open ties to and promote those criminal organizations across media platforms.
Mayor's office will use every possible angle to reduce the distribution of this music and penalize companies that do business with the artists in NYC.

When the financial incentive is impacted, the needle moves. You can't stop certain things, but you can try to contain them/curb them.

Think you're misreading the Mayor if you think this is just tough talk/lipservice.
