It's not about defending it. It's trash. I'd delete it's existence from the earth in an instant. But that's because it's trash with no artistic merit. Not because I have any belief it'll make a dent in violence in the black community. NYC was a hell hole during the funk and soul of the 70s. For an elected official to make that non-existent correlation is troubling at the very least.
But I hope he succeeds. Cause it's trash.

No one, including Mayor Adams, is claiming that banning drill music will eradicate crime, that's a strawman argument that always surfaces in threads like these. The music is literally celebrating the deaths of Black men and that alone is reason enough for it to be banned.
