Yeah bc we all live or lived in squalor among the rats infested in tenements. Rats are not that common as what's portrayed, most of the rats are in the tourist areas.
What don't yall understand about rats being a condition that affects every city - any heavily populated city is going to have certain areas where rats tend to congregate. Recent article stated that Philly has more rats than NY.

That's not funny - residents live in subhuman conditions with rats the size of babies. Rats carry fatal life-threatening diseases and viruses (hantavirus). Most cities have rats.

It's mostly the parasites attached to them that cause it. Like that typhus outbreak in DTLA amongst the homeless

42 (pronounced "forty deuce" ) is rat central. I'm pretty sure that's not far from where this vid was filmed actually.
For this who don't know 42 is Time Square (Grand Central on the east side)
