North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Fixed that for accuracy purposes
They need to trade for a pitcher
Andujar should be in the lineup more.

Houston is a better team even though their offense sucks. They got better pitching.

This team has too many close/come from behind victories for me to think they are a legit contender today.

And obviously Gallo needs to go.

It’s 50/50 odds.

From your perspective the Yankees will be battle tested and can handle close games and the ability to trail and come back.

But it can go both ways. They’ve shown that they can easily lose those type of games.

And what I don’t like that the Yankees and a lot of other teams do is they only play starters 6 innings. So they’re used to it and end up fukking up in the 5th or 6th innings. Cole is the only starter that’s built to go more than 7. Cortez is a consistent 5 or 6. The bullpen is nice but they even have hiccups.

you obviously haven't been watching them this year.

4 of their starters have 95+ innings pitched so far. The only one who hasn't is Severino at 86 innings and he just got put on the IL. If anything, the worry is how they'll handle the added workload since they haven't pitched this much before. Boone is more guilty this year of trying to milk out another out or two from the starters than yanking them out too early.

At the break, a couple of things stand out to me.

Josh Donaldson has been less valuable than I expected. To be fair, he still gets on base a lot relative to his batting average. The problem is, his batting average is so bad that even with his walk rate, he gets on base less than the league average. It's to the point now where I don't think we'll see much regression to the mean here. This is probably who Donaldson is at this point in his career. I might expect the Yankees to look for some depth at 3B -- at least from a hitting perspective. Donaldson HAS been good defensively.

On the flip side, Gleyber Torres has found a bit of his stroke this season. Currently OPSing .809 after 2 years in the low .700s. He's even managed to be a bit above average defensively so the Yankees have to be thrilled with that. This is kind of a big deal because the Yankees haven't had much reliable production out of the middle infield spots in recent years so it's good to see that there's a threat outside of Judge/Stanton.

Aaron Hicks is still a bad baseball player. At best he's league average. He is currently on a hot streak in July. But I don't expect that to last for very long.

I hoped to see a bit more K potential out of Jordan Montgomery but it hasn't been there. He's still a good pitcher but if there's anyone who will be on a short leash come October, it's him.

Matt Carpenter and DJ are there to be that 3B depth. That position will always be covered solidly.

Gleyber's been better, but he'll never be what he was advertised, which is why nobody is exactly worried about what to pay him when it's his turn.
