The police in this country do not operate with absolute impunity. To say it as so is being dishonest.

A police that operated with impunity is the Tonton Macoute. And thats a totally different beast you need to compare it to to gain some depth.

The problem is in this one the police act against minorities with near impunity. The problem is a system that perceives us as inherently criminal and/or a level of racism against us. Thers not a problem with the police, theres a problem with them looking at us as less than citizens. There exists checks/balances against police in this country, so its not impunity. The problem is that that balancing act isnt activated whenever its one of us that was wronged.

Theres nothing wrong with police and any respectable society needs police. and to suggest different id like to hear a better option for modern society and i hope its not let the people police themselves. Matter fact, if you have a community policing themselves, if attention is paid to the development of that system, it just turns into another police force.
