Jewelz was not a classic album. It had some great songs on there and was one of my favorite albums of the 90's but it ain't a classic.

EDIT: You know what. Let me take that back. That shyt was a fukking classic.
See that's thing bruh..got a theory...there are different tiers of classics...the undisputable classics that everyone holds in high regard...then questionable classics..then personal classics...this is kind of a questionable classic...where as some ppl hold it in high regard...others don't...to me it is...but then to some purists it ain't because some songs can be skipped...

Jewelz is a better album than Word....Life, so how is it NOT a classic???

I actually didnt buy this album until maybe 2 weeks or so after it initially dropped cuz it wasnt good reviews and I heard a few hip-hop personalities suggest he was going the commercial route. Glad I didnt listen to them, cuz this album remains my favorite DITC release.

Fav track is "Chosen One". And I always knew that was Panchi, the voice is unmistakable, lol.

Review is bullshyt right off the bat. :pdahellclean:
Jay-Z and Nas both on the brink of superstardom? :pdahell2:
Nas was a hip hop superstar already.
Jay wasn't remotely close to where Nas was in 97. :pwhitehat:

What the fukk is this? :pdahellclean:
Jewelz, like its predecessor Illmatic, was led by a Dream Team of producers, including DJ Premier, Mr. Walt of Da Beatminerz, DJ Ogee, and D.I.T.C. beat monsters Showbiz, Buckwild and Lord Finesse.

well they shared some high end friends, Premo got OC to record @ D & D for this album so he'd bump into alot of ppl

i dont think any of O's album did more than 100k, Jay was already plat by then. but i thought it was cool he did that hook on Bon Appetit

its weird that Joe sold the records but L, AG and O were so much better. just goes to show that sales dont mean shyt
