I don't think he left early, he did clock out and drank a bottled water at the bar for 15 minutes. Then he went home and changed, from there he went to Nicole's.

Those 15 minutes he was drinking that bottle of water was the end of him.

I do think he was taking the glasses back, he wasn't even there waiter but he went out of his way to Return them cuz it gave him a reason to go over there and get that special.
