Most constituencies have specific issues and legislation that they want passed. And they have lobby groups and pacs that they funnel money to advocate for those specific things.
This site promotes a backwards way of looking at politics. Dudes say "what are politicians going to offer for my support?". I don't think negotiations of any sort work well if you don't enter knowing specifically what you want.
"Tangibles" is a YTer term that trivializes how modern politics work, in my opinion.
Okay, it sounds like what you're saying is the epitome of a oxymoron. You say "negotiations don't work unless you come to the table and know what you want".
So my question to you is okay we can agree you have to have a seat at the table, but what’s the universal code for what black people want?
We want dance offs? fish frys, rap videos telling us to get our booties to the pole, Church “leaders” telling us to vote?
You trivialize the word “tangible” as if it’s a dirty word.
Who are the representatives who speak for us that have a large platform and not in the pocket of the DNC? No one… the grassroots is not large enough.
I don’t understand what’s wrong with asking for something when your biggest constituency got you elected and we came to the “table” and so for it’s been:
stop Asian hate
LGBT
Afghan rescue
LGBT
covid crisis
LGBT
It’s all wash rinse & repeat…
