People were pissed about the war in Iraq because we were lied to about the reasons for the war. The fact that it was for oil/profit added insult to injury. The fact that the U.S. is a major oil exporter doesn't change the fact that we're about to go to war in Venezuela to get their oil. As long as we look at things through the lens of how much oil we have or can acquire the country won't be incentivized to move on to clean energy.
