He's not wrong. People can say what they want about Obama, but he has a very good understanding of how white people/American government work and their view toward black people as a whole.
Reparations will only get serious attention when white people get behind it and that's never because America doesn't see the issue with slavery. Human trafficking and exploitation is the foundation of its economic model and they are still limping by on it.

The current push around reparations is about closing the racial wealth gap (a by-product of enslavement among other things), it's not about finding a dollar figure that fully atones for the moral and financial impact of 500 years of slavery.
Even prior reparations movements never argued that whatever number they were calling for would morally and financially fully atone for slavery.

People are getting on Obama because he needs to keep his mouth closed instead of that weak, "I WISH I could do it, but the mean white man is stopping me!" This kind of nonsense is why I stopped supporting him after his first term. I actually voted for the guy, but then when I saw he didn't deliver on most of his promises, and every time it came to something for blacks, he'd disassociate himself, I saw what was up. This is the same guy talking about he's not the President of black America, he's everyone's President. Same guy that called the Baltimore rioters thugs. Kamala is taking the same stance of disassociating herself from blacks but dipping her foot into the black associating pool when she needs votes and support.
The reality is Republicans hate sanctuary cities and the fact that illegals can get all kinds of tax-payer sponsored benefits, but somehow the Democrats take care of non-citizens who can't even vote before their 'black allies'. Same for the LGBT community. A lot of conservatives don't like LGBT but the Dems can get things done for them. The Dems have the House and the Senate... Why can't they get things done for blacks? What 'racist whitey' is stopping them unless they are talking about the ones in their own party? If the whites in the Democratic party don't want African Americans, who have been the staunchest supporter of Democrats, to get reparations for CENTURIES of oppression, then how exactly are they our allies?

We've been getting studies and commissions for decades while the black communities remain largely the same whether it's Democrats or Republicans in office. In addition. I’ve already posted on this site my ideas for how to approach getting reparations. And it ain’t no check. It’s strategically worded legislation that doesn’t obviously benefit black people, but in practice, benefits black people more than anyone else. Once the balance of wealth starts to shift and black peoples start creating foundations of power, THAT is when you charge in wielding your sword. If you take your army of 100 against an army of 100,000, you’re leading your people to slaughter. Develop opportunities, develop wealth, develop power, destroy the opposition.

There's no true black progress that won't create a white backlash. There's no slow cook bureaucratic, political economy, market-based solution that will subvert white backlash anymore than a head-on solution like reparations.

Reparations shouldn’t even be debatable at this point. Only reason they try deny it is because it will expose how far reaching the effects of slavery have been.
Reparations for descendants of slaves and policies to override the racism ALL blacks in America have experienced in education, housing & working HAS to happen eventually.
