If we join together we can sustain each other! Do you realize what our spending power is? What would happen if we used that spending power on black businesses and companies in the black community?

We literally have the power to change our communities overnight! We can establish our own banks and give credit to each other.

You can ride through my town/city and everyother Black majority area in Michigan and see the closed plants -- and they were in our communities. They funded and aided in our growth and jobs.

They are gone now -- with no replacements. It's thousands of Black folks with degrees -- and making less than $15.

To maintain a bank -- dollars must STAY in the back to build -- how will that happen when there is no money to deposit -- that will stay in the bank. They will only use the Bank for check-cashing purposes.

But in terms of Obama's quote...is he wrong? Consider what the south did when Obamacare was passed. After the Supreme Court allowed states to opt in/out, nearly the entire south opted out of the Medicaid expansion. Despite the federal government offering to pay 90% of the costs. The reason? They didn't want to give healthcare to poor people...specifically black people. The south is where a very large portion of the black population lives. It took years for many of these states to expand Medicaid due to ballot measures.

We can barely expand healthcare in this country because a large portion of people are so angered by the idea of black people having healthcare. We gave people two (soon to be three) checks during a global pandemic, because so many people are angered at the idea of black people receiving money. Yet you think the government can just hand billions of dollars to black people exclusively and there won't be a white backlash? You're crazy. Just having a black president resulted in a whitelash that gave us Trump. What would the reparations whitelash look like lmao.

I think reparations could be done in one of the original ways, which was funneling money into urban areas for infrastructure (ie jobs). That's prob the only way it could be done, as a part of a larger bill. It wouldn't be called reparations.

History has shown that when we unite around their economic principles and start to gather wealth they’ll start to knock us down either openly through domestic terror and violence (Tulsa/Elaine/Greenville/Rosewood) or through clandestine activities that they’ll use to steal the community’s wealth. So then what happens when, under their system, all that we build is burned or stolen again? We’re (our descendants) supposed to ignore that too, I guess, like y’all suggest we should do with reparations?

Reparations should come in the form of tax exemption (Income and Property), 0% interest rate mortgages/car loans/business loans, free healthcare and free higher education for 246 years (The same length of years of America’s years of participation in chattel slavery from 1619-1865). That’s the only sensible way to really “fix” their ancestors’ mess and for us to be able to build on a large and long-lasting/permanent scale. It wouldn’t be a “handout” (even though that’s exactly what their ancestors got) and would actually benefit this country in the long-term. Again, it will never happen, whether through our own efforts or through reparations, because that’s not on this country’s agenda.
