I went to school in DC, didn't see any difference, you fail to tell me why or how it's important. Most americans don't associate with their european ancestry, no one thinking "I'm of German descent" and reading german history, they just learn what they learn which is typically American history.

Few things really get me emotional, but when I hear my little cousins denigrate smart or constructive behavior as "acting white" I want to cry; one of my cousins is very bookish and I see him struggle with getting made fun of. That mindset starts at such an early age and is fostered alongside the general child/tween fear of being different.
I remember kids made fun of me for reading comics when I was a kid because only white boys read those, and I stopped reading them. A year later when I was about 10 I went to my granddad's house, and he asked me "what is Daredevil doing now of days?" He'd always ask me that, and I'd always tell him what was happening in all the comics I read, we'd read them together, etc. So I told him I stopped reading them, and eventually confessed why. He hugged me and told me never to worry what others say about that shyt, and I should be proud that I could read. And he told me how he didn't know how to read when I was his age.
If you can't appreciate having the President of the United States telling us that these stereotypes are disgusting and hold us down, you need to reevaluate your life. I don't give a shyt if he is "half white" - he's been treated 100% Negro since he took office, and that's a fact. They shyt on this dude nonstop and he never breaks his cool, and keeps styling on them. Even when I disagree with him I'm going to always appreciate the power of the IMAGE of a well read, smart, calm, compassionate family man with a BLACK wife taking care of his children and never apologizing for being a BLACK man in America.
