Music, Dance, Food, Vernacular = African American culture, which is a sub-culture of American culture admittedly but is distinctive from the larger culture nonetheless.

No they don't you'll never see the average white person get on another white persons case for liking something "black" like hip-hop or old soul jams. Comments sure, but never to the extent where they would question someone's "whiteness"

The problem is you have a lot of black people that do things just because it associated with white people.
White people love hip hop and they support it more whne they are doing it. Now most black people are not going to support a black rock group. but they wiill support a white one.

affordable care act has enabled many black men who'd otherwise lack coverage to enjoy access to adequate healthcare. obama and holder have pushed for the end of mandatory minimums for drug offenders, a disproportionate segment of whom are black. the result of that effort has also, as reported last week, ended with a recommendation of retro-active clemency that will see thousands of prisoners - the majority of whom are black - released from overly punitive terms in prison next year. holder aided black farmers who were discriminated against by the dept. of agriculture in a successful 30 year litigation for payments owed them that amount to over a billion dollars.
people like you spout off without actually looking at the constructive and positive change obama and his administration has done for black america. you unfairly criticize obama for the actions of white racists who have visibly stepped up their attack on black america in response to his presidency.

You don't associate black with "hood shyt" but black should be associated with social consciousness to a extent, you should love yourself and have a love for your people. What Obama is basically saying is assimilation into CAC culture is natural and disassociating yourself with "blackness" is okay and that's where I respectfully disagree.
modern black culture is toxic and damaging to our mobility as a people. so, disassociating ourselves from it is smart. if that means i'm assimilating into "cac" culture, so be it. i don't see white people out here gunning themselves down on a regular basis (in spite of the occasional gun massacre), but black men are slaughtering each other in every major city across america every single day. and you can't argue that black culture isn't to blame. it is.
