Havent read the thread but do people really not understand inflation and that this is a bad thing? Product prices will just rise in turn and even more jobs will be shipped elsewhere

Not to mention the additional strain this will put on small business owners

breh, no its not. The problem is people dont know how to manage money and want to blame someone else for their problems.

I have to agree with you to some extent. Paying someone more money who can't control what they already have isn't really going to solve any problems. AT the same time 16k is about 1000 a month (after taxes) and that's not much.

that 16k was after taxes. And I always had something else on the side going.
If you dont have kids you really dont need that much money to get by.

While youre working that shyt job making $9 why dont you work on skills so that youre worth more? Are people that make $9hr reading self help books when they get off work? are they working on a side job/business?
Probably not...they are probably playing xbox and trying to get p*ssy on POF.

:wtf:

do nikkas like you live in a world where it isn't a recession outside? where almost 30 million americans are unemployed and struggling to put food on the table? where people who once made 60k a year are now relegated to making 8.00/hr? that shyt is real. i swear, you sheltered shutins need to step outside and see how nikkas are really living in this world. so those 27 million unemployed adults fukked up in life?

:ohhh:

My apologies breh, I made a very grotesque comment without even considering the harsh reality for many, in which you presented. I put my foot in my mouth without thinking (I haven't really watched or focused on the news in months because of the depressing outlook on life it constantly present...guess I lost track of all the terrible shyt that's still going on out here). Hopefully this pay increase serves it purpose without delivering some type of f'd up side effect (layoffs, spike in cost of living, etc.) that would make peoples situation worst.

:whew:

Our president is of Nubian ancestry brehs :blessed:

No, it is being disingenuous. Straddling the poverty line is certainly not "doing fine". If you can't be honest about that fact, then it's not worth debating this with you.

Edit: and this is precisely the disingenuity I'm talking about:

that 16k was after taxes. And I always had something else on the side going.

.

$16k is doing fine, but you still need something to do on the side. :stopitslime:

And now it's $16k after teachers taxes, smh

Miss me with all this judging of hypothetical $16k earners who need the latest gaming system and chase tail all day that YOU'VE created.

in all honesty...you are your own worst enemy.

I used to work with this dude who was a server at the Cheesecake factory and Bennigans. He paid off his mortgage in 4yrs just working at those places....4yrs!!!! And he just bought a second home in Florida.
There arent many people making 6 or 7 figures that have done that.

He doesnt make that much money, but he made the choice to work hard and not waste....why cant other people do that?

and the broke person playing xbox is not a situation i created...thats real life. What excuse does a healthy human being have for making only $9hr for years and years? its their fault, nobody else.

I know a lot of people that make sub 25k that arent down on their luck losers.
I made the decision early on that I didnt want to be a slave to a job and "stuff". The more you buy, the more you are forced to do things you dont want to do. Unfortunately a lot of people dont realize that and spend spend spend.

Exactly. They think it is an increase in pay without reprecussions. I personally am all for raising the minimum wage but I know inflation is going to be right behind it fukkin everybody up.

In the end it wouldn't end well. It's already difficult to afford basic shyt in this country for many people as it is with minimum wage $7.50/$7.75. when all of our necessities (gas, bread, milk, eggs, ect.) are twice what they are now then people will be crying wolf and making $9 wont even matter.

Our consumer drenched culture and lack of accountability/responsibility is typically to lame.

Folks out there really do not do research on current bills and go with what the President says exactly to heart. The actual bill that got the President's attention in that online petition in my signature that even before last night was gettting hundreds of signatures every hour, was actually for $9.80.

As I repeated a million times already, our minimum wage in the mid to late 90s was barely $5, and increasing did not jeopardize that huge boom we were having. NOw I know that SOMEBODY in here is going to find some lame retort or excuse to try to explain that fact.

And finally even MORE IMPORTANTLY that alot of sheep in American seem to forget(as usual) we do not even have the final bill in front of us yet, so we have no idea if they would add things that prevent middle wage workers from getting pay increases.

the problem with this is in unemployment checks...people will work their time then get fired or stop and collect that unemployment..which will be fat at 9 per
Huh:wtf: What does that mean? If you making 9:00 an hour for 40 hour week, that is only 360.00 a week, you get quit, you get nothing, you get fired you get 180 week on unemployment, how is that fat again? :ohhh:
