Its moreso for low level employees who can't afford to miss work due to sickness and are one paycheck from the poorhouse.

Plenty of times I've had employees come in sick as a dog but can't call off because their check will be short which means less money for bills.

Most companies won't even entertain the thought of vacation/pto/sick time because those employees are expendable. You want to take time off? You're fired? Oh you want to fight that? Right to work state, we can fire you without reason. And 2-3weeks later they'll have another employee in there to do the job.

The president has no jurisdiction over the police. You want change there, go vote in midterm elections for Sheriff, mayor, local judges, etc.. and convince someone else to do the same.
:what:The president is the chief executive of the country of course he can do something. He could do anything from withholding federal money, sign an executive order, have the justice dept bring federal charges, etc. If Obama was a white man we would be collectively more furious than we were with gw bush!

I guess this reduces my chances of being killed by a cop on the way to work.

Thanks Obama.

Americans don't get paid when they're sick?

:wtf:
Not by law (federal I believe). Some employers offer it. It's why I prefer to work in a school environment. Generous time off, shorter work days, and more benefits such as health insurance and free tuition benefits for state universities and colleges.

No shade by why would the US wanna imitate labor practices from any EU country? :mjlol:

US GDP is higher than the entire EU combined :mjlol:

Work never bothered me, but enjoy your siestas:ld:
Workers need protection such as paid sick leave, vacation time, maternity leave. They're not just drones and as a matter of fact they're more productive when they've had time off.

You're winning :obama:

America is by far the wealthiest nation on earth. It can easily afford to make certain reforms without impacting the quality of life or the economy.

I respect the work ethic of Americans but there needs to be a balance imo. Ppl are not machines....

Michael Moore's documentary spoke on all of this..

This was my Facebook status a while back

"Watching Michael Moore's documentary called "Where to invade next?." Wow...make America great again? Nah, let's make America like Italy with, 7 weeks paid vacation, 5 months paid maternity leave and 2 hour work lunch breaks. Or like France with, 1 hour-freshly prepared, dietician recommended free daily lunches for school children. Equal schools for the rich and the poor, like in Finland or rehabilitating prison systems with a 20% recidivism rate like in Norway..but we won the most gold medals though..stay woke y'all"
