Workers need protection such as paid sick leave, vacation time, maternity leave. They're not just drones and as a matter of fact they're more productive when they've had time off.

I'll be honest i've never worked for a place that didn't have all 3.

America is by far the wealthiest nation on earth. It can easily afford to make certain reforms without impacting the quality of life or the economy.

I respect the work ethic of Americans but there needs to be a balance imo. Ppl are not machines....

It's corporate/capitalist culture in which there are very little protections for workers (they associate it with communism and labor camps). Instead they're just employees. Europeans are capitalist too, but there are better social programs.

Personally, I don't see myself living here much longer. The culture here is blame the poor, feed the rich and quite frankly it's disgusting. I'd love to repatriate to Africa but my mothers people are causing quite a stir

Yeah I always see the dreaded "socialist" word thrown around whenever people talk about offering something to those less fortunate. The hysteria surrounding Obamacare Lmao. Big business + lobbying culture + the American Dream I guess. You would probably get low paid workers who would vehemently argue against many of these proposals and take the position of big capitalists.

Its moreso for low level employees who can't afford to miss work due to sickness and are one paycheck from the poorhouse.

Plenty of times I've had employees come in sick as a dog but can't call off because their check will be short which means less money for bills.

Most companies won't even entertain the thought of vacation/pto/sick time because those employees are expendable. You want to take time off? You're fired? Oh you want to fight that? Right to work state, we can fire you without reason. And 2-3weeks later they'll have another employee in there to do the job.

He could do anything from withholding federal money, sign an executive order, have the justice dept bring federal charges, etc. If Obama was a white man we would be collectively more furious than we were with gw bush!

That's bogus. 4 day work weeks are usually 10-12 hr. days. It's just as spirit crushing and exhausting as 5 8hrs. days.

Federal charges could range from charging the murderer to civil rights lawsuits against the entire dept. No president should sit by idly singing we shall overcome, talking out both sides of his mouth but not doing anything, especially when there are no more elections to win. Barack Obama doesn't care about black people

Nothing is stopping anyone from filing civil suits. Again charging someone does not mean convictions. Unless u want OB to appoint himself judge, jury and executioner for life, everything you said is silly.

I'm guessing he's referring to making this mandatory. I have like 240 hours of sick time currently cuz I simply have no reason to use sick days.

a lot of smaller businesses and low level jobs don't offer this benefit obviously.
