Anytime i see angry being used in response to a grievance or disagreement, i see it as deflection..

Like when people say, "angry black man/woman"..

So lets go back.. After watching the video, does the author make a point,
first off, stop telling me where to go or what to do...

second, do you understand MY point now? you pretend as if i wanted to have a discussion with you on here. i was just attempting to be understood, not debate with anyone.

you see deflection, i explained CLEARLY where the idea came from. you CONFIRMED the idea as well. so now, what reason do you have to doubt my point of view?

why is it so important to you i agree with you and this video?

I'm just gonna say this here, decipher it however you want:

What if this library opens up more job opportunities with higher paying salaries for minorities? It's a given fact that certain economic landmarks create increase in rent and there's no way around that. It's apart of economics. Higher Quantity = Higher Prices and any policy advisor or economists will tell you that. White ppl are going to move wherever they want and we can't control that as much as blacks. We also can't associate cheaper neighborhoods with minorities because that's subliminally racist as fukk in the video.

The bigger problem is that minorities are not getting better jobs, they're mentally getting beaten down and oppressed from jobs not hiring/discriminating and as a result, we lose a sense of value of self. When that happens, crime increases. Give our ppl value and relevance in those neighborhoods, rent goes up but jobs will pay more causing a decline in the crime rate. (It also would help if we had a mentally stable president like Bernie Sanders to enforce free education on community colleges to inspire many people to get back into school)

Also why are we quick to jump the gun when guys like Obama and Chance are focusing education and programs on blacks and minority children to have better futures?

The same thing that this cac is preaching in the video is the same thing these racist conservatives preach in red states to convey us away from encouraging our people while secretly plotting a hidden agenda. They know that they have a diamond spoon in their mouth and their job is to give minorities a cubic zirconium spoon to make them believe they're apart of their plans to shut them up and manipulate them. Hence you have white Hispanics like ted Cruz who Chuck and jive for trump or ignore their ancestral roots for cacs. If we keep believing that cubic zirconium is diamond and that anyone that doesn't give us hand outs is a plant, we'll never get anywhere. We'll only become our own oppressors.

Lol @ people saying gentrification is beneficial.

Are you guys forgetting that racism exists? All gentrification will do is expose the poor white population to better jobs and facilities that those jobs they will get will enable them to enjoy.

It does nothing for the poor black people because those jobs and facilities will either block is from getting in or have us come in extremely limited amounts job wise which will end up with he majority of our poor not getting in and being forced to move somewhere else and staying poor.

We need a solution for the issue of racism because that is what shuts down most of our chances to improve.

That won't be a bad thing. Plus gentrification does not necessarily mean white folks it could be middle upper class black people.

thanks for the link because i wasn't going to watch any video from that putin loving cac jimmy dore.

so let's establish what the obama project basically is: a museum, library, community center and a park. this isn't some residential development where you can make the developers set aside affordable housing or other investments in the community (like a community center) or building a stadium or arena. the biggest beef they have is that building something near them makes the neighborhood more desirable to outsiders who will then move in and push them out. worrying about your rent going up from $1k a month because someone either buys the property from your landlord or the landlord hikes the rent due to market forces is definitely a legitimate concern, but not one that the obama foundation can solve other than locating the project somewhere else. the fact that only 24% of woodlawn residents own their homes is the problem. if they had 80% homeownership they would be loving the increased desirability of their properties (for equity or sale), but a renter doesn't share those concerns.

and mostly minority owned firms (lakeside alliance) are constructing the project.

i agree 100% with the CBA expert from UC-Irvine here:
The best thing the center can do for the neighborhood, she believes, is to pay its employees well. “There’s no reason security guards and cafeteria workers can’t be paid a living wage,” she said.

the neighborhood you rent in becoming more desirable to outsiders can only be prevented by not investing there in the first place.

Back when Obama was a community organizer, a project was known as a “piece.” His successful campaign to pressure the Chicago Housing Authority into removing asbestos from Altgeld Gardens and the Ida B. Wells Homes was “the asbestos piece.” (Obama even chartered a school bus to Housing Authority headquarters, where Altgeld residents sat in the hallway outside the director’s office, insisting he visit the projects. He did.) Coalition organizers believe their campaign is exactly the kind of piece Obama himself would have worked on when he was in their position, 30 years ago. But that was then: before Harvard, before politics, before the presidency. For them, Obama has gone from sticking it to the man to … being the man.

“Of course, he would have,” says Jeanette Taylor. “But now he’s part of the establishment.”
this makes no sense. his campaign to get asbestos removed from your housing projects is not even remotely the same. if the obama project was a power plant or putting cell phone towers on your roof then i could see, but a library/community center/museum/park is not that.

My gentrification map is as follows..

Draw a line from 63rd and Halsted going east to the lake, going north to downtown on Halsted..

That way university of Chicago, Kennedy King College, IIT and UIC will all be connected.

Halsted? Not sure that far west lol

Definitely 63rd and 94 though.

Aint South Side where a majority of black youth deaths occur...if so...then let the gentrification began. .....:yeshrug:
The south side is the biggest part of Chicago geographically. It's not even close. But it being horrible is blown away outta proportion. There's plenty of nice areas or south to be honest. Now getting white people to move out there is another story. They only live in a few Southside neighborhoods for the most part. And some of those are strictly :mjpls: status.

By the way. The area where the library is being built really won't displace people. They are building it where the are currently parks, a track and a football field.

The area where it is being built is Woodlawn which is adjacent to where obama lives in Hyde Park. That area is actually been up a and coming for a while. The reason there are so many renters on that area is also because the university of Chicago had expanded to that neighborhood from Hyde Park and there are as lot of students in the area. Try to buy a house there and it's expensive. But they have gorgeous old greystones in that area. It still borders some of the hood, so I would not pay that kinda money to live there when u could live in better neighborhoods cheaper.

Dig it, but the majority of the murders do come from that for 6-10 block area of the South Side right?

Also if this where say a Lupe Fiasco building this it would be promoted as positive for the culture, but since its Obama, nikka got the :scust: face. ............

Exhibit A: the South Suburbs. Shame what has became of some of those towns. Middle class black neighborhoods will always be in peril if lower class blacks continue to have access to them. That’s the gentrification no one is talking about.
I agree. South suburbs would be the last place I'd want to live. No jobs and lack of public Transit infrastructure. Plus, high taxes and declining property values. There's a reason blacks get pushed out there.

No. Not that small of an area. But most of that shyt happens in a handful of neighborhoods on the south and west sides. Most folks know which neighborhoods those are tho.

Im looking at your interaction with this guy.. .

Typical liberal train of thought..

The people with the grievance don't know what they're talking about..

Let us think for you.. :mjlol:

Exactly. This is why they can herd us like cattle in any old direction and we follow with big grins on our faces
