It was a herd of cats. They couldn't seem to organize around any set of general principles or policy positions they wanted to push other than "things are fukked up and we're mad," which is an important message to get out, but it can only accomplish so much.

all they had to do was get better organized and set up their own individual community economics model. all the pieces were in place.

and that would have achieved everyone's goal simultaneously.

OWS is the perfect example of what I have been preaching to everyone who seems to forget history.

nothing, NOTHING that tries to accomplish a massive movement on this level will get anywhere unless violence is involved. Its tough to accept, but its true. Those people at wall street did not feel threatened...they were merely a nuisance that they got used to dealing with.

i agree. but they woulda had to come out the gates like that. i could see the newspaper headline if they did it now

"Occupy Wall Street protests decay into violence, officials say drugs were involved"

it would just get slanted to seem like they just got drunk and started fighting.

if violence was necessary, they would have to use guerrilla tactics. like what they did in fight club. and it wouldn't necessarily have to be violence, strategically graffiti'd walls, destruction of property, and civil unrest would work just fine :mjpls:

Basically this. I'd love to elaborate more, :upsetfavre: but I'll hold back

The LA Riot in 1992, was the dumbest thing a group of protesters can do. :wtf: is littering your own neighborhood going to accomplish. How about........................

those were different conditions. it wasn't a thoughtful movement like ows. no one was looking to change policy, people were angry about the rodney king verdict and looted.

OWS started out with good intentions that they never followed up on. And they sucked up all the oxygen in the media that could have been used by actual politicians to implement change.

A lack of a solid platform and too much time and energy funneled into meaningless art projects translated to OWS disappearing after a couple of news cycles.

People with jobs and responsibilities will never rally behind camping trustfund kids, even when they have a valid argument.

At some point someone has to put on a suit and tie and be the figurehead and face of the movement.

I actually had a conversation with OWS on twitter where I asked them whats the point or end game. I straight up told them that i agree with the message, but not the methods they are using. Standing outside and bytching doesnt accomplish shyt and this is why so many people didnt take them seriously.

There is SO much shyt they could have changed or brought to light, but instead its just a jumbled mess.
