Occupy Wall Street - one year later, general thoughts

I actually had a conversation with OWS on twitter where I asked them whats the point or end game. I straight up told them that i agree with the message, but not the methods they are using. Standing outside and bytching doesnt accomplish shyt and this is why so many people didnt take them seriously.

There is SO much shyt they could have changed or brought to light, but instead its just a jumbled mess.

and the rest of the middle class goes

but I'm a democrat, obama's cabinet would never do any wrong
yeah I know we're in a recession right now, but that doesn't matter, because we have hope....and no I don't remember what actually caused us to go into recession so why don't you fukkers just go get a job during this recession

Why do you think the Republican "are you better off now than you were 4 yrs ago" mantra actually stuck with ppl last month. Because during OWS, the middle class had a total cluster fukk moment and acted like we weren't just shytting bricks. shyt was downright disrespectful to hear muhfukkas go "what are they complaining about... "

The middle class is fukkn retarded man I swear. You nikkas elected Obama based on hope and progressive activism. Then the nikka gets elected and you sit on your asses. Then because you sit on your asses you allow this nikka to bytch smacked by his own party over healthcare. Then you nikkas allow the same banks/corporations who ran a train on the economy, to get away scott free. Then you nikkas complain about how those same banks/corporations don't wanna help you with health care. Then you complain when the same banks/corporations that don't wanna help you with health care want a lower tax rate.

Then when a group of ppl, who have the luxury and the unfortunate situation of being able to physically protest on your behalf actually do so, YOU TELL THEM THEY'RE LAZY AND LACK A PROFOUND MESSAGE.

The middle class reminds me of that female that always complains about what guys don't provide. And then when they run down the list, it doesn't sound like they want a man, they want a fukkn father.

At some point someone has to put on a suit and tie and be the figurehead and face of the movement.

imo its not a good idea to put a face on the people's movement. a lot of times the individual becomes larger than the movement in the eyes of the masses and some people have a tendency to get too caught up in dynamic personas instead of focusing on the principles of the movement.

plus if you have a head of the movement and the head gets cut off, then what happens to the movement? it becomes devastated and maybe never recovers.

if a leadership structure becomes necessary then id prefer a small council, no more than 5-7, of community members who have the trust of the entire community to make final decisions.

also i think it's important that we establish common goals, common principles, and best practices. that way people can take the overall momentum of the movement and apply it in their own specific communities.

there were lots of "middle class" folks who were ride or die out there on the frontlines. in some cases the people that had cribs, cars, a good job, were out there going harder than everybody else.

I was impressed by the persistence seeing that it was March/April and there was still a decent tent town outside of Yale's Old Campus in New Haven

Realistically it started in NYC and that's where it should've have made the most noise. It should turned violent and bloody to make a point, but protestors are fukking pussies.

I was at Occupy Atlanta, even slept there for a weekend to get a grasp of whats going on, and i learned that there are a lot of fukking idiots in this world. I agree COMPLETELY that the middle class are sheep without a Shepard, easily swayed and distracted, Which is why OWS shoulda went hard and made a list of shyt to actually accomplish that people could rally behind.

Your telling me OWS could mobilize 10K people to shut down times square but they cant put just ONE guy in office to start blocking these stupid laws. nikka PLEASE. They could have truly changed the world if they were focused. here's teh thing. the days of protest like this are long and gone. You can't just be out in the streets biotching, americans don't like that, even most of us here on the boards.

The reason the tea party succeeded wasn't because they went out and stood in front of capital buildings shouting shyt. The were the catalyst behind change because they actually DID shyt. They ran for various offices, they pushed to get on school boards and city councils.

While all these OWS dudes were crying the tea party was making moves, small at first but ultimately that's going to be the only way to change things.

The problem is that a vast majority of , what i would call liberals, lack the resolve to see some of this shyt through to the end. One minute they are all, "we're going to take this over and change the world", then the weekend is over and that's it it's over. THe dudes who do have the resolve are usually bat shyt crazy so they don't resonate with the masses.

Dad Political: Why Occupy Wall Street Failed

Imagine you’re at work. Your boss comes in calls a meeting of your department and tells you that your whole department is having a salary reduction of 50%, you’ll be required to work weekends and you’ll not be paid overtime. You’re most likely pissed, as is everyone in your department, but hey, you have a mortgage to pay and kids to feed. You grin and bear it, you don’t say shyt. You know who doesn’t grin and bear it? The pink haired new guy with the way to tight jeans and gaping holes in his ears. He speaks up. In fact he’s pissed. He says something. You don’t say shyt. You think it. You silently nod, but you don’t say shyt. He starts to try to organize a meeting, you don’t say shyt. He posts meeting times in the break room, you don’t say shyt. He meets with the boss, then gets fired... You don’t say shyt.

Why, because he didn’t look like you? Forget the fact that you agreed with him 100% he didn’t look like you so when it came time to join up you couldn’t because he wasn’t you…or so you though. Truth is he’s EXACTLY you (minus the hair, jeans and holes). He has a family, he has a mortgage, he even shared the same job as you. The difference was he wasn’t a biotch, re-read the first sentence of this post again. Now you may be asking, “if he wasn’t a bitoch and America doesn’t like biotches, AND he still failed then what’s the problem?”
