Listened to the album on the commute this morning. My favorites were: Already Knew, Choices, All I Need, Work To Do, The Way

To me the best Oddisee joints are ones that are uptempo, have "contemporary" sounding production (think 2nd half of "Catching Vibes") or have R&B hooks. He shines on those

:russ:
That and that dude CS Armstrong fukkin up "More To Go", are the only missteps on this album imo

I fukks with the only other CS Armstrong hook I've heard, coincidentally it was a similar song called Miles Away on Blu & Exile's last album. I didn't like how mumbled his lyrics were on More To Go

I think another misstep was the Rump Shaker sample on The Way, dropped a 5 star song down to a 4. Makes me want to make slideshow ode to my ol lady:sadcam:

is this album only available as a clean album?

He doesn't curse in his music. He explained it in an interview I watched or heard years back but I can't remember the exact reason.

Something to do with cursing and using the word nikka and having audiences say it back to him didn't feel right. I remember he said he still cursing in real life but just not in the music.

And also something about saving money making and mixing clean versions and clean music gets licensed more.

EDIT: Found it. Timestamped

Thanks for posting, didn't realize he made a concerted effort to not cuss. His biggest licensing look happened last year on Bel-Air, that was dope to see.

Forgot to post this, but this was his most recent interview before dropping the album

Smart man

He’s not the first i’ve heard speak specifically about music licensing being easier for “clean” music. A lot of underground rappers have spoken about that including Danny Swain and Phonte. I’ve even noticed that Nas cusses a lot less across the Kings Disease albums and when you hear his songs played on tv there’s a lot less editing and censoring. The show The Resident played Everything (from Nasir) on one of their episodes and damn near a whole verse played without needing censoring.

I wanna see Oddisee win man. He should be A LOT bigger than he is now. He could easily have been on J.Cole’s level with the right machine behind him

He has a lot of good interviews with producers and artists. I like how he blends the artists' music into the conversations. I always learn something new

I was playing Oddisee in the whip one time and my girl thought it was J Cole lol. It seems like he's content being an independent artist, touring and getting them licensing checks
