Word, nothing said here is original. It's just a matter of the people you're discussing it with. I post here because it's just a different group of people than who I would otherwise converse with. I remember taking Sociology in HS and then I got to college and I was like, "I've done this before," and the prof was like, "but have you done this with THIS group of people...." HL is just another outlet to discuss what we would otherwise be discussing elsewhere and it allows anonymity.

Well said. I just never imagined that people really wanted KTL 2.0 but with more posters, not from the feedback I was getting initially. The animus towards HL (and the many many many many arguments I've gotten into) has nothing to do with a "mod clique" or even personal dislike 99% of the time, it's because you guys all engage in fukkery too, but then ask us to clean up the fukkery of others (not you in particular). That's literally it, and BP and I end up being tasked to address the offenders of those contradictions. Thus, we end up in the middle of conflicts...and in "beefs" for reasons we're unsure of. That's what led to these short snarky retorts to where Broke Wave was wondering what happened to the old Candor......there's something fruitless in trying to be consensus-seeking (like when I would PM you if someone said something racist about Asians to see how i should go about it.) if everyone enjoys jokes and fukkery, but fukkery for one is a an offensive post for another. It is, what it is.



My HL job interview -

The administration: So we want you to just mod being yourself because you have no beefs with anyone and you post decent

Candor: So you mean like this

The administration: More like and like twice a month

Candor: What am I getting paid...

The administration: you get a "staff" tag and you get to roast MMS

The difference is we thought that would lead to a good board where plenty of people would want to post and where it would be respectful. We thought the reboot would be a fresh start. The problem from the beginning was getting HL regulars on the board to chill out because I've been able to talk down most everyone else from beefing but then they say..."what about so and so." The point is, we thought the board come be more than what it has become, and that it would happen organically (like how most good discussions on here suddenly happen) with a little dissuading of certain things here and there. The college board was just one idea for a HL sub-forum, a job\money-making\business-planning sub-forum was also tossed around. I only ever said anything when all of a sudden HL wasn't fertile ground for that because of beefing and when people began to protest threads being moved into those forums because they hated HL (thus the death of the college forum). But people want to come on here and shoot the shyt and politics and everything else is just the template for that...I'm cool with that too. HL is more the daily show than PBS...but we had try, or at least I believe we had to. I'm genuinely curious see what HL is 2014 will look like.
