Because there is no downside to him doing so.
If he did win, then he gets out in front of the media cycle.
If he didn't win he can just spin saying he was "victorious" by having a top three showing when his polling was nowhere near that because it's pretty clear that Biden was 4th at this point.
So do we know who won? Buttigeg and Bernie both out here acting like they won but I haven't seen anything official. Although I expect Bernie to win.

This is incompetence.
They're saying no results until sometime tomorrow (or I guess technically today if you're on EST like I am).
Guess I might as well go to bed. That said I think everybody kinda lost here. But if anything Biden might've low key won if only because this takes attention away from his underperformance.
