Allowing Trump to illegally attempt to influence the election with zero repercussions was not an option. The Democrats couldn't blame a president who was moving illegally and abusing the powers of the office if they refused to do anything about it. They had to fulfill their constitutional duty. And if Biden took some L's in the process, it's not like those weren't deserved. It could have come out a lot worse ways and it's not like there's anyone in the country who didn't already dislike him who thinks anything inaccurate of him now due to this process.

I think Buttigieg's lack of viability will be apparent long before that. Iowa will be his best state of the ones that matter.

If Biden continues to flounder then the establishment will pin their hopes on Warren. But the crazy thing is I could easily see her getting worse at the same moment that Biden starts to recover. Bernie is going to be attacked and cheated every step of the way, but extreme DNC incompetence and inability to coalesce behind any single one of their candidates might be the perfect storm for him to beat the system anyway.
