Dont know if Lions should go into a soft reset or go all in next year

Both your starting safety’s are probably cooked. Branch will miss entire year and Kerby knee probably chronically fukked. Probably need two new safeties. Year 3 is the make or break for Arnold. Roberston is scrappy but has been terrible all year honestly. Hopefully Rakestraw can take over slot. Reed might be losing a step. Wouldn’t hurt to draft another CB.

Anzalone was washed this year. Need a replacement LB that can cover

Reeder, Davenport, Pascal, Levi should all be gone. They need somebody with some juice coming from edge. And Muhammad probably looking for his first payday. Need better depth so Alim and Hutch can stay fresh

When seasons over they better have clear answers from Decker and Ragnow about what they are doing. If they have another year in them the Oline can survive another year with the young guys competing for guard spots. If not we need to decide if Ratledge is moving to C and if we need to draft Decker replacement ASAP if Manu can’t do it

If Im Montgomery im requesting a trade or release. He can start on alot of teams right now

No clue how serious Laporta injury is. Back injuries are tough. He better learn how to get down and stop taking so many unnecessary hits

And Campbell better hire an experienced offensive coordinator that has had success before. Daboll or McDaniels. He bot smart enough to balance playcalling duties and clock management apparently. We see the ups amd down this year with Shepherd. They have to revisit the defensive philosophy. All this man to man is killing us

Good thing is they will play a third place schedule next year. Packers went all in on Parsons and he’s out until probably mid next season and Bears are fools gold that will get really expensive really fast

Don’t want to hear about refs. We got down the field in large part due to the refs throwing flags on the Steelers. Everything was set up for us to win that game and we fukked it up.

Next year is make or break for Campbell. Either you bring a legitimate OC in here or we'll have tough convos if next year looks like this again. He only interviewed three guys for the job this year - Morton, Engstrand (Jets OC), and Scottie Montgomery. Dunno how Hank Fraley got an OC interview in Seattle but not here.

Shep is good in my book due to the massive defensive injuries BUT there needs to be an overall of the scheme. That's on Campbell too. This bullshyt obsession with containing QBs and stopping the run has to end. No more read and react. Go get the fukking QB. Which gets me to Holmes. I defended him all offseason. It's clear I was wrong. The pass rush is a problem. Letting Hutch get grinded into the dirt by triple teams is not smart. We need edge rushers. And we need to have a convo about Alim. I am willing to believe he'll be fine next season. We always hear about ACLs taking 1.5 years to fully heal. But just in case? Draft somebody. It's time to truly feed the d-line. Tyliek was just the start.

This year was a failure and I need to see major changes. There is really no room on this roster for projects (Manu) or gritty fan favorites (Amik). It is time to get better, bring in a lot of youth and hit free agency hard.

Campbell is nowhere near any of that make or break. As a fan you might feel that way but I doubt the organization does.

He won’t be fired after next season, nor should he be. My point is that if he fukks up the OC choice again then 2027 will likely be his final shot. He’s whiffed on two OCs, and lucked into another who was on staff when he got here. A third fukk up would be too much.

Holmes needs to wake up too. This roster is no longer good enough to burn draft picks on developmental guys or special teams aces. We needed backup TEs, safeties and CBs. It’s time to get back to taking the best player available. Manu was not the best player available. Neither was Vaki. There’s no more time to curate rosters. Go get guys who want to ball.

That’s the difference in championship organizations and one thats just happy to not be picking in the top 10 like usual.

They going at Shep on social media. Always think this shyt be racially toned. Same with when we had Glenn. Shep literally lost his whole secondary. Once Arnold and safeties went out the defense fell apart. Hutch is gassed. Only so much you can scheme. Defense been bad second half of season but offense is the reason why Lions aren’t in postseason this year

To fire a mostly successful coach just because of some turbulence at the loss of both coordinators a surprise retirement and the entire defense backfield being loss to season ending injury is an overreaction. He was a part of the organizational turnaround. That's some Caldwell type nonsense to fire him. Some of yall have a short memory on how bad it was at points.

My point exactly. What it used to be like don’t matter if you think you are now an upper echelon type of organization.

He not getting fired and shouldn’t be fired this season. But he definitely should not be given a contract extension this off season and be on the hot seat next season. Him and Holmes. It’s a results based business.

While I agree, I think there are also major schematic problems that need to be fixed or else it doesn't matter who is healthy. We could have Pat Surtain and Sauce in the secondary and would still be getting picked apart because there is no interior pass rush, and Hutch cannot win fast enough while double teamed. It's not even about yardage. I'd have no issue with giving up passing yards if we had the ability to consistently force 3rd and longs and then get off the field. But we can't because the pass rush is nonexistent. How is a DC gonna fix that when the head coach won't see reason, and the GM won't address it either? We've had two of the best d-line coaches in 2024 and 2025 and it resulted in nothing. Is that because they magically became trash coaches when they got to Detroit? No. It's the scheme. It needs to go.

And I'd argue Hutch being gassed is a coaching issue too. This cavemen shyt has to go. Your star edge rusher shouldn't be playing 90% of snaps every week until he's burnt out in December. He played 67% of snaps yesterday. Meanwhile Alim played 76%, which is too much coming off ACL rehab. And speaking of Alim are we gonna talk about how the run defense fell off a cliff the minute he came back and Tyleik's snaps got cut? That's coaching. We were top 5 in rush defense until he came back. He's clearly not healthy enough to be playing these many snaps.

What's weird about their lack of pass rush is you wouldn't be able to tell by the stats. They're tied for sixth in sacks with 41 (Rams, Texans and Chargers); middle of the pack in Hurry% (13th at 7.7%), QB Knocked Down % (14th at 8.7%), Pressure % (15th at 22.4%). They have the third fewest missed tackles in the league as well.

YAC for receivers is third lowest...but on the opposite end, they have allowed by far the most total air yards on completions (2,277 yards; second is the Rams at 2,055). Another stat on Pro Football Reference is DADOT, which is "average depth of target when targeted as a defender." I take that as how deep the secondary is. They're by far the farthest away (10.5 yards; second is 8.8, which is Denver).

I'd like to see a breakdown of when Detroit is getting most of their pressures and sacks. I'd bet the majority are against bad teams and in the first half.

The Lions were thought to be a premiere team after last year. They got smacked up by most of the good teams they played this year so it shouldn't be an issue going forward. Always Thanksgiving though.
