This does not sound like a Campbell and Holmes guy. I hope he kills it and stays healthy, but I haven't heard any player talk like this since this regime took over. This was the verbal version of:manny:

Brad trying to sell him as an “addition” was bullshyt

He's not a bad player, per se, but that attitude and lack of availability is a discouraging combination.

What attitude? He doesn't like talking to the media, who cares. There has been zero indication he's a problem in the locker room and he plays hard. All the camp reports I've seen this week say he looks great. Jahmyr Gibbs sounds low energy to the media too. Zero impact on the field.

My issue is that he's a risk, on top of other risks that have already bombed out. Levi is done, Paschal is out until September. The problem with relying on injury prone players is that when you have injuries from reliable, non-injury prone guys (Hutch, Barnes, Alim, Anzalone etc last year) it makes everything look worse. Carlton Davis had a long injury history and ended up missing time at the worst possible moment (playoffs). Davenport had a long injury history and played two games. Those two losses on top of the other, less predictable injuries compounded the situation and blew up in our face.

I have zero issue with trading Anzalone if he doesn't want to play out the last year of his deal. Maybe I'm wrong and a deal gets signed soon BUT it sure seems like the front office thinks Campbell and Barnes are the future. Finding a Will LB to replace or replicate Anzalone on a cheap deal (or via the draft next year) wouldn't be hard, plus they clearly trust Rodrigo to play that role too when he comes back from injury.

Dunno what the Jets' LB situation is like but maybe Aaron Glenn would want to trade for Anzalone. Obviously he's really good in our defense, I'm not saying he's bad. But Campbell is a borderline top 10 LB already and I think Barnes is going to be great at SAM. This is why I thought we were gonna draft Jihaad Campbell when he was still on the board at 28 lol.

Davenport seems like he’d have signed a 1 day deal and retired as a saint if we didn’t sign him back. He will never play better than he believes he will

First day of pads

Player of the day: Aidan Hutchinson

This is a tough call because there were a few standouts, but my goodness, Aidan Hutchinson. I won't profess to focusing on him on every rep, but he completely dominated throughout both OL vs DL drills and the team period. No. 97 was on fire from the very first rep of the "pit" drill, where he made All-Pro right tackle Penei Sewell look like a rookie with a nasty, ridiculously quick spin move. It's been a recurring theme amongst everyone here at camp so far: you would never know Hutchinson suffered a serious leg injury last fall. He's picked up where he left off--as the Defensive Player of the Year front-runner--and might be even quicker off the snap.

Looks like Holmes missed with this pick and Manu. Arnold and Mahogany gonna have to carry 2024 draft class. He had a couple of all time great draft classes so he wanted to shoot from half court a little so I get it, but the season relies on the first 2 picks this year to hit immediately

There needs to be a complete overhaul of how the front office approaches players who have extensive injury histories. Holmes has said multiple times that he views injured free agents as bargains and has dismissed injury histories as "bad luck." Well this is now another example of it not working. Rakestraw was mocked in the 1st round on talent but fell due to injury history, and despite going CB in the 1st round Holmes still felt we needed to draft this guy. Bad move, barring a miracle.

Levi, Rakestraw, and Paschal all struggled with injuries (or cancer!) in college. Add in Emmanuel Moseley, Marcus Davenport, and Carlton Davis in free agency. The only injury prone guy they got "lucky" with was Anzalone and he broke his arm last season. Maybe the fact that the team clearly isn't going to extend Anzalone is a sign of a shift when it comes to signing/paying injury prone guys. I hope to god because this shyt is not sustainable. The only way this team can be kept together is if we constantly hit on draft picks so that cap space can be reserved for our elite players. And you can't hit on draft picks if they are constantly injured.

The real preseason game was definitely the joint practices lol it’s gonna be hard to stay awake to see Hooker. If he plays subpar again it’s time for a trade for a backup qb

TeSlaa balling. Even if Tim Patrick is healthy for the season he's gonna get snaps. And then next season he'll be the starting X. I'm glad we got young receivers who are balling in preseason again. The years of seeing Tom Kennedy nonstop are over. TeSlaa legit, Meeks looks good, Lovett looks good too. Can def see the vision is for Lovett to replace Kalif at some point (maybe next season), TeSlaa to replace Tim Patrick, and Meeks to be the backup X receiver.

Ahmed Hassanen got injured during the game, possible elbow or chest. If he's out for significant time....is now the time to sign somebody?
