Hooker is bad. He’s too damn old to be a developmental QB at this point. Just a bust

Starting to look like the coaching staff are running out of patience with development guys yet we keep drafting them. It's worked a few times (Barnes, Vaki, TeSlaa so far) but the misses (Hooker, Brodric Martin, possibly Manu, Sorsdal) are frustrating. The roster is simply too stacked and no one wants to see multiple wait-and-see guys taking spots that could go to guys who could provide depth. I still think Manu can be a starting tackle and he's shown clear progress this preseason but what's the conversation gonna be like next summer if he's still not good enough to beat out Dan Skipper as OT3? I assume Brodric Martin is getting cut in a couple weeks; he's made some plays in the preseason but it's not enough. If Sorsdal didn't get hurt he would have probably been cut. And if Hooker doesn't get cut it's gonna be because we keep 3 QBs...

Holmes wants to re-sign our core guys and I agree with that sentiment. But it only works if you keep replenishing the roster with cheap young draft picks who contribute alongside cheap diamond-in-the-rough FAs. He's done great with the cheap free agents. How about we start focusing on drafting late round guys who can contribute instead of guys who need to be taught how to play football.

James Houston had a couple nice QB hits today. It's funny that now that Aaron Glenn is gone we're finally running more pass rush packages with linemen standing up, but Houston isn't here to benefit from it. The insistence of turning him into a SAM LB was stupid. I'm not saying he was great but when you have a guy like that...let him rush the fukking passer.

Likely out for season. Paschal still out. They basically have to get an edge at this point. Zadarius? Judon? It needs to happen.

Send Cincy whatever they want for Hendricks? Teams can always bend the salary when they want to :manny:. I know it's not really feasible but still, I want to see them go all in on something.

Teslaa beating Reed one on one outside :wow:
Looking like Holmes got another one :whew:

Saw a vid of some Detroit journalists talking about TeSlaa getting locked up by Arnold in practice a couple days ago and why he's still learning the position but....TeSlaa won't be facing a CB1 or CB2 in a regular season game. He's gonna be on slot receivers and LBs, and can light both up. Defenses will be focused on Amon Ra/Jamo/Gibbs/LaPorta.

Lions/Texans joint practice was earlier today. Most reports say it was more evenly matched than the Miami one, but the Lions got 4 interceptions (including 2 from Stroud).

Houston been balling all preseason for Dallas. Looks healthy and they clearly understand he's not a SAM LB. Let the man rush the fukking passer.

@dh86 TeSlaa will replace Patrick next year but I think both make the roster this year. Meeks is an X receiver, Raymond is a slot (and kick returner). I think Lovett is gonna be his replacement next year.

Really curious what we do at WR. Do we keep 6? Amon Ra/Jamo/Patrick/Raymond/Meeks/Lovett? Or do we cut Patrick and keep five. Patrick is a vet and can choose which practice squad to sign with, whereas Meek/Lovett would be subject to waivers. Might be smart to cut Patrick, sign him to the practice squad, and then elevate him to game days to start the season until they think Meeks is ready (I don't think he's had any snaps with the 1st team offense).

Really weird how Hooker will go in a game and the play calls are predominantly runs, Even last year in blowout wins where Goff was pulled, Hooker would come in and hand the ball off. I’m not trying to excuse his mistakes but his opportunities to get snaps are so limited and odd.

Yea…Hooker is bad. To the point maybe he sneaks through waivers. But if not who cares man. I’m not sure how you play four preseason games without a touchdown.

Brodric Martin prob done too. I hope there’s a shift in how we approach developmental guys in drafts. Zero issue trading up in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Sometimes doing it in the 3rd makes sense (TeSlaa). But you can’t do that every year…
