I've been hearing about govt. shutdowns since high school and it never happens

I got concepts of a plan.
I’ve been through three. One as a soldier. Nothing happened. We got paid. Two as a contractor. One I was in Iraq so we got paid, another I was stateside.
Company told me, “the govt has shut down. We have to send you home indefinitely.”
Me: “Cool, am I supposed to wait at home for a phone call?”
Them: “we will call you when needed.”
I ended up going to Belize for a few days. Shutdown over. They call me one evening talking about come to work tomorrow. I told them I’m in Belize. I’ll be there Monday. They wrote me up.
I should have filed a grievance but took it on some, “am I supposed to wait at home crying to get back to work.” They didn’t like that.

It’s happened in 2018/2019 but yeah the recent threats have been pump fakes.

Pretty much. Seeing coworkers panick each time is sad & low key funny
At this point any fed without a back up plan is a fool. I have money saved up for several months but also my Bank will interest free loan in the interim. No excuse not to be prepared.
