It's not lost on me that aside from Kelvin Sampson, who is an indigenous brother, there are zero black head coaches in the Sweet 16. In fact, most of the Black coaches have been getting sacked.

I don't know what the problem is, but they are failing big time in the NIL era. Jai Lucas seems like our only hope for the next generation.

ACC (18): Jeff Capel (Pitt), Jai Lucas (Miami), Micah Shrewsberry (Notre Dame)
Big 12 (16): Kelvin Sampson (Houston), Johnny Dawkins (UCF)
SEC (16): Lamont Paris (South Carolina), Dennis Gates (Missouri)
BIG (18): none
Big East (11): Shaheen Holloway (Seton Hall), Ed Cooley (Georgetown), Shaka Smart (Marquette), Ronald Nored (Butler)

What the heck happened to the black coaching fraternity at the college level? Why can't any of these dudes coach an elite offense? Without the Big East, this list would look abysmal.

Capel, Shrewsberry, Cooley, Paris and Gates are on the hotseat next year. They all have to make the NCAA tournament or they will be out of their jobs. Shaka probably has to as well (since he refuses to use the transfer portal).

I know this board feels black coaches get the short end of the stick in football and rightfully so, but I am concerned the brehs are not up to snuff when it comes to basketball now.

Am I tripping?

Why would the best players go to those schools if the 🎒's ain't right?

Big entry. Can see him going to any of those white big 10 programs. Needs to go somewhere with a great shooting coach if he wants to make the NBA

tbf a lot of these guys can't coach for shyt. Cooley and Shrewsberry particularly.

Shaka Smart refuses to adapt to 2026 landscape.

Sampson is a great coach but his teams seem to have a ceiling they can't get past

Gates maybe? Mizzou has been mid before him (no S16 since 2009)

Antoine Pettway at Kennesaw State will get a chance at a bigger coaching job soon. He might be Bama’s next coach of Oats leaves.
