Whole country mad right now
In hockey
Its gold only
Silver being left on the Amalfi coast
This, hockey is our game, our national sport and we are a traditional hockey superpower. We always expect to win gold medal. Anything less is a disappointment. That silver medal leaves a bad taste of losing in our mouths. And we will have to deal with it until 2030 Olympics.

We can settle for silver or bronze in basketball, because we know Canada is not a traditional basketball nation/power yet

We can settle for a quarterfinal or semi final loss in soccer because we are not a soccer power yet. Soccer in Canada is nothing compared to sicker in European, African, or South American countries.

We can settle for silver or bronze in the world baseball classic because we are not as good as the USA, Dominican Republic, Mexico, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Japan etc yet.

Hockey is another matter. We expect our team to dominate and always win.

Hyman and Reinhart kind of have the same profile, but Reinhart turned back into the pumpkin he was before the Stanley Cups and maybe Hyman could have been more useful with McDavid here and there.

Reinhart plays a stealthy, basic game with a deceptively killer finish, but this whole tournament he just looked like he didn't belong. You watch him on PP1 and it's like what is this Joe doing out there with the Pros?

And Hyman is faster and more physical in the forecheck.

Reinhardt to me is a huge disappointment, just invisible. And I really don’t know why Cooper did try to have the three Panthers on a line and see if that will get those three going.

To me Team Canada revolved around McD, Mack, Celebrini, Sid and Makar. Outside of those 5, the rest of Team Canada had moments here and there but not consistent enough like they do with their NHL teams. That’s to me is the issue with Team Canada.

canada's depth was absolute trash. reinhart, marchand, bennett were totally invisible but they go crazy during the finals. tom wilson was not needed. mark stone disappeared. what made them choose a guy like seth jarvis over scheifele? if they wanted reinhart to play such limited minutes as number 13, might as well brought bedard instead. outside of the top line, they barely generated any chances. outside of makar, none of the D can move the puck like bouchard.

Worst part about this loss is that like 3 percent of Americans care and the entire country watched the game :francis:
One of the Worst things about this American gold medal victory today is actually witnessing all the gloating and showboating from all the USA maga/racist/far-right accounts on social media after the win

I know these grifters/losers/right wing propagandist try-hard dorks never even watch hockey anyway. It’s all an Act from them, it’s so fake. They only pretend to support hockey because it’s a sport dominated by “conservative” straight white men, so it’s another way for them to stick it to the libs/canadians. In their eyes, It’s a cultural war victory for them( that they will forget next week)

Glory hunters/front runners.

Ironic since like probably only 10 percent of the actual American population at the most cared about the outcome of today’s game while more than half of the Canadian population watched it

Just does dirty shyt

Throws punches, runs your goalie, high sticks

Guy sucks
Tom Wilson and Sam Bennett are crash and bang winger grinding players that physically wear an opponent down in a seven game series during the Stanley cup playoffs . No need for that in a one game elimination tournament like the Olympics , you pick your most talented players if you want to win the gold medal.

Yup this is the not the NHL

You send literally all of your most talented and gifted players. Thats what every other country did and we almost lost to Finland and the Czechia

You don’t need to overthink it. It’s fukking Canada were stacked at every position

They thought they were more smarter than they were smh they should have kept it simple. Nobody cares about balanced lineups, it’s a best on best tournament

Canada roster construction was not optimal for the Olympics
