He's right. Keep Mitch.

The circles of Knicks' fans I follow had a decent chunk that were either:
1. Concerned about the new pace reducing Robinson's effectiveness or being hurt since he doesn't space the floor.
or
2. Hating on Mitch because they want Deuce to be the starter after the way he showed out yesterday and based on his playoff analytics.

And I semi-understand. The pace feels like a bad fit for Mitch. But he's going to grab a shytload of rebounds because of how much movement forces defenders out of place to quickly box him out. I also see room for him to be an impact player just off screens for everyone else. The new offense looks like it'll have a lot more off-ball screening and movement, which I'm hype for! Mitch could really help with that, and if his big has to hedge, he can slip into a post position near the rim.

The ONLY reason that I can see Mitch traded is that he's expiring, and the second apron is close. The Knicks probably can't keep both Deuce and Mitch while avoiding the aprons, so I could picture one of those guys being moved or both being packaged for someone...but if we're packaging Deuce and Mitch, I'd want a significant return. Seeing Brogdon/Clarkson and potentially Shamet or Mathews on the roster makes me worried that Deuce will be moved since we have depth to replace him.

Damn, I hope we keep Duece longterm. He's a great 2 way player for his size.

I like Mitch but if we have no other options, we have a better chance finding another rim protector to pair with KAT than finding another Duece.
I don't know about this. Think about this bro, we had playoff teams so concerned with Mitch's impact on both ends of the floor, they employed that cheap ass Hack-A-Shaq method to get him off the floor

Think about that & his value & who does that consistently in the NBA now

Mitch would have to be healthy to see the dividends on that investment. You willing to take that chance in a championship potential year on big gimpy?

Yea that's true.

I'm not discounting his ability at all but with his history of injuries, they'll have to load manage him.

When healthy, he's someone I'd hate to go up against.

I don't think there's many bigs holding him but also if Brogdon gets injured, I'm not 100% confident in Clarkson carrying the bench with Shamet.

It's just weighing the options and longevity of the players overall.

Edit: Also, I think we have a lot of potential in Yabusele and Diawara.

He won’t be playing big minutes or back to backs so yes. And we have capable players that can fill the need if he gets hurt

The investment is peanuts though. He’s like a notch above a mid level salary. He’s worth at least 22-25 mil a year.
