Knicks went 5 months overusing lineups that overtly mute the best attributes of then2 best players on the team intentionally for the sake of “balance”
We ran a losing 5 man lineup while we had several alternatives that don’t fit the parameters of what wins games in the coaches mind even though they all won minutes.
I ain’t watch 100 games of coaching malpractice for a nikka to watch 3 horrifically coached playoff games to tell me “Brunson dribbled too much”
Tell me who the fukk you want dribbling on this team if every set has one action and nothing else and it devolves into iso basketball with zero spacing. Sorry Brunson is probably the most equipped player to live in these scenarios of preposterously coached basketball and even then there are limitations.
Tom thibodeau has never coached elite offense against good defenses in his basketball life, that shyt wasn’t gonna change now. Every team he’s coached it turned into hero ball. Derrick rose, Derrick rose/jimmy butler, Jimmy butler/wiggins/kat, Randle/brunson now Brunson/kat. Every last one of these teams turn to your turn my turn basketball while never actually truly leaning into optimizing isolation looks anyway

Imagine having to pay Mikal 50mil a season for 3 seasons. That’s what yall are gonna have to do or trade him for Pennie’s on the dollar.

Better pray a package of Kat and Mikal can bring yall Giannis or someone similar.

But then Giannis and Robinson can’t play together.

I told every Knicks fan I know trading all that capital for Mikal was a major mistake. Might be one of the worst trades in your franchise depending on what happens in the draft.

I don’t think you need a 4 like that next to him. Teams might lean in further on the offense and see KAT as a stretch 5.

The only real problem is that Brunson - KAT defense together is something teams will target going forward.

You can't fix that, what you can fix is those around Brunson and KAT for fit but realistically, can you?

Damn. I know we just lost but the doom and gloom here...best season in 25 years, 2 wins away from the Finals, in the first year with two new starters and OG's first full season with the Knicks. Reading some of the posts here feels like y'all thought going to the Finals was a given lol

I guess it comes with being a Knicks fan. Every game we win some think we can win the championship, every game we lose some want to blow it up.

There's tons of thing we can clean up to go further next year. Turnovers, missed FTs, stupid fouls (LOOKING AT YOU KAT). This team is incredibly frustrating in how it finds ways to lose, but me personally I would give this group another season together. Maybe I'm too conservative, maybe it's PTSD from our dark ages.

Anyway, wild season once again. The love-hate relationship continues
