It really sounds what killed him was what has been his issue his whole career. Not playing his bench and being slow to make adjustments. It’s not that they got to the ECF it’s that he refused to change on things his employer told him to change.

FO has been super supportive of Thibs, and he refused to meet them half way.
I think it's worse. I think he actually tried to meet them halfway and just couldn't fully. Terrible analogy, but almost like an addict who means well but just can't kick the habit.

That is even worse, but the analogy fits what we are hearing.

There was a fan who went to a game and reported that the sidelines was a mess. Like none of Thibs assistant coaches were working which makes sense because most of them are there for development and who did Thibs develop this year? Mo Cheeks didnt do shyt but collect a check and Rick kept starting fights with players like he was the enforcer on the team.

shyt had to be a shytstorm behind the scenes if you think about it.

Thibs is a notorious control freak that has to call all the shots & doesn't allow his assistants to do anything without his say so. It's probably one of the reasons Johnnie Bryant left in the first place

Michael Kay on his radio show said a source told him World Wide Wes went over Rose and convinced Dolan to fire Thibs. He also said that some front office members didn’t like that he got a lot of the credit for the turnaround.
I’m surprised this is not causing more of an uproar. Dolan putting his hands in again

It's not a talking point because the majority of Knicks fans (and apparently players) were praying for Thibs demise anyway.

If this really was true, and these nikkas fall off, like win 45 games next year and get slumped in round 1, the culture will find a way to circle back to this.

According to CP's show earlier, Ian Begley (who I would trust more with Knicks stuff way more than Michael Kay) said that this was Leon's call, not Dolan's. I will admit to feeling uneasy hearing his name tied so close to this decision.

I'm looking out the window if Michael Kay tells me the sky is blue.

I feel like I'm so used to Knicks' shyt going bad, that I still assume the worst case scenario first. But it's hard to picture Dolan jumping in to get involved now, of all times.

Thibs has been hands-off for the whole Rose era, and the Knicks are coming off their best season in 25 years. I wonder if Dolan had to be convinced to eat the cost-cutting Thibodeau right after he signed a 30-million-dollar extension. I feel like that makes more sense if I step back and try to consider the whole scenario.

But why tho? That ain’t on Dolan.

If what you described happens the fans should blame themselves. :mjlol:

I hate Dolan but it's not surprising to me that he was in the meeting.

He's the team owner after all. Firing Thibs would definitely be something he would have to be in the know of.
