50 at his peak was bigger than Jay Z ever was, by atleast 2 times
So were mc hammer and vanilla ice.
But as someone already said, their reign in the top was short as...

But let's not act like grodt didn't sell 7 and hard knock life 5.

i have never seen heat like 50 had in '03. even with Em that was a cac movement. the way 50 had the hood and white people was crazy. i dont even think snoops doggystyle run can compare. and he didnt need a million songs like drake. 50 was just a very unique character at that time. its the greatest individual run for an album i have ever seen. when those second week numbers came in godt damn. 800,000 again? jay had no choice but to lean back. see how emotional jay was on What More Can I Say. its almost like his girl left him for 50 he was catching feelings. a jay/50 beef would have been epic.

i remember a story back then about how flex put in da club on at michael jordans birthday and jay caught feelings. jay the most emotional rap nikka ever.

:heh: @ 50 stans saying jay retired because of 50. right :rudy:

its not like he didnt go run a record company for a few years.

or release 2 classics during 50s period of relevancy (Black album and AG-which came out a few months after curtis)

:camby:

hov's been relevant since we were teenagers. 50 was barely relevant for the same amount of time as it takes to graduate high school

Hov even said he didn't want to release Black Album on the same day as Beg For Mercy.

This is straight facts and I BEEN tellin people this.

When Jay Z went through that "retirement" phase that was cause of 50.

Black Album dropped like 9 months after GRODT and that song "Threat" was biting 50's style from "Heat"

Threat is lyrically MILES ahead of heat though, lets not act like 50 was the first to make a song about shooting and killing people.

Threat wasn't "MILES" ahead of Heat lyrically :what:

Them first 8 bars though:whew: But Heat felt more real, because of 50's background. What gave Jay Z the right to make a song like that, that deep into his career:usure:

That's your opinion, but Jay Z was clearly riding that Gangsta rap wave.
