don't recall reading that..and either way that was hovs 7th album..and the 2nd album from the hottest rapper at the time..albeit a group album. and hov was still #1 anyway..

this whole thread is stupid. 50 had that song on guess whose back..only ppl in NY knew who he was at that time.. nationally he was still a nobody. whats next he's gonna say he worked with nas first on that tape too and then hov did black republicans 4 years later?

:camby:

and for all the touting 50 does on his sales he only has 2 #1 albums. even ross over twice that (though total #s is a different story)
Jay Z was well aware of 50 when Guess Who's Back dropped.

Jay Z told people he liked 50.

They've always had a rivalry, just on some rap shyt

It's not that serious b:yeshrug:

I mean 50 aint wrong i always saw it as such... 50 came in took over, Hov new he couldnt compete so he went into 'retirement' and then jumped back in the water when a lane opened up.
This aint a diss to Jigga, you got to remember dude is REALLY about the dollar, and he will fall all the way back, let you run sh!t for your glory years, try to get a cosign or something out of it, and then when you fall off he will rejuvenate himself and may say some slick ass sh!t about you to kick you while you down... plus jay was still coming off ether in 2003 another L woulda been legacy ending...

all 50 is really saying is, when 50 was playing Chess to Ja Rules Checkers... Jigga was playing Go...

50's finally moved on

It's sad cause he wanted his artists to have their own career but they seem not to do anything

50 locked yayo banks and buck in a box, made them burn all their bridges with artists, ruined their relationships with the outside world ....

and then turned around and kicked them to the curb.

Yet banks and yayo still rep G Unit, how does he pay them back? insult them in every interview.

Now is that loyalty? 50 is a fukking snake

50 saying they all the same person doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. They all have their good and bad characteristics and a moments.

The only thing 50 made them was rich. And if he gave the opportunities to a nikka like Meek Mill, Meek would've ran wit it.

You look at Banks career: He had a platinum album at 21/22. The next album he LOST. Like he literally lost a whole LP and made a new one. He blamed the flop on Interscope. HFM2 he bounced back with a gold single and buzz... that's the last time anyone's seen him:stopitslime:

All them nikkas had chances, Jay Z and Diddy gave their artists far worse treatment than 50. He held their hands wayy too long

It does make a lot of sense. If Ether never happened Jay might have felt comfortable enough to get at 50 and compete directly but since he would be coming off a loss and 50 a win (against Ja) it was too risky. By the time Jay came out of "retirement," G Unit was crumbling, 50 had fallen from mega-superstar to just rap star, a major move away from 50s style of music was occurring, and Jay had taken the time away from the Booth to craft a new persona, myth and legacy around himself. If there ever was a need for a direct engagement he would be ready. Of course, it didn't happen and here we are today.....

It was just a coincidence. Jay Z had been talking about retirement since 1999 and we knew about the rumored final album ( 8th Wonder/ Black Album etc) before GRODT dropped.

The fall of 50 Cent hadn't begun when rumors of Jay Z's return gained steam: sparked by the announcement of his Heineken World Tour (+ associated Water for life documentary with MTV).

On the other hand, 50 Cent was in the top 2 of the biggest selling ARTISTS IN THE WORLD (+Norah Jones). He was coming off another 5 million+ album and set to go head to head with Kanye for Curtis vs. Graduation (same day release). Let's be real, most of us on Sohh and Ahh were rooting for Kanye but his odds weren't looking good until the 1st day reports started trickling in. Before then, we knew that Kingdom Come was dropping around Black Friday but 50 Cent was still huge. If you told me hed be irrelevant by 2008, I would have called you crazy.

bruh thats what you're SUPPOSED to do when you're a ceo
you think these guys should be thanking him for the rest of their lives?
and its funny how you mention meek mill cause if banks had a relationship with ross like , meek does with 50 you know 50 would have kicked banks out a long time ago.

Banks and Yayo are trapped! they cant move freely like french, meek ross or any other artists, they cant work with alot of producers and artists due to 50 cent.
