sounds like Google Home is a better fit for what i want out of this (loud speaker, answer questions, connect to home appliances) but i'm more tied into the Amazon eco system and it's more developed so far. i do have a 25$ gift card so i might play with the echo and return it for the Google Home if i'm not satisfied

Echo can connect to soundbars and other speakers though
