So I've looked into Luna a bit and I'ma keep it real they really bout to push Google's wig back something serious:huhldup:

I say this as someone who bought a Stadia Premier Edition and put in a good amount of time on it:hubie:. I fully believe in the technology itself but the "brand" has been run pretty poorly since reveal

Luna is cheaper, has a comparable or arguably better game library already, lets you stream on 2 devices at a time, has iOS support (although no Android:patrice:), and they're already looking much more aggressive out the gates with clear and concise marketing, something Google has failed miserably at with Stadia. Their commercial does a much better job of selling the idea of cloud gaming than anything Google's put out, and on top of all that, they have Twitch integration in their back pocket which will serve to promote and build brand awareness early. Google promised to do the same thing with Youtube but has yet to do so on Stadia since it launched last November. The only true advantage Stadia has right now is the ability to stream in 4K which is coming soon to Luna at a lower cost anyway:yeshrug:

I still need to play it for myself to be sure, but knowing Amazon & Google's track records, it's much more likely that Amazon swoop in and be the first cloud-only gaming platform to really pop than Google get their heads out of their asses and start delivering on all the other features they've promised outside of the awesome streaming quality itself. They get patches for games way late, have no type of family/game sharing, and even games like Destiny 2 suffer from a lack of player base for multiplayer:francis:

I give them 3-4 months after launch and Luna will already be more relevant than Stadia. Even the Stadia reddit full of the stannliest of stans already bout to jump ship no hesitation:picard:
google is definitely asleep at the wheel on a few fronts but stadia got me spoiled like a mf. I can't even see myself without a service like that at this point

the only thing that could pull me away from stadia rn is if all smart tvs get the game pass app, because I'm definitely not buying 5 xboxes

they can easily develop a "nvidea shield" type gaming console and also call it luna make it come with the fire remote and a control.. all amazon services and price it aggressively like 200-300.. and they will be good

I honestly don't get why folks want a cloud service confined to a hardware device. that defeats the purpose

Miserable??
:childplease:
  1. who are you???
  2. This is entertainment
  3. @PS5 is all-in on MS buying publishers, cloud gaming...so he shouldn’t have an issue with Google/Amazon doing the same...
  4. :camby:
You described yourself, Sony is the company known for buying exclusivity left and right. You just mad Xbox buying companies outright instead of bullshytting with them. Now I have a major question for you. Do you believe this person would like gamepass or nah...
Still PS+

I rarely buy games first run, so a lot of the free games on + end up being “new to me”. It suits my current play style well.

Amazon's newly announced Luna streaming service will run Windows games on a standard Amazon Web Services EC2 G4 instance, the company told Ars Technica in a roundtable discussion. Those server instances sport Nvidia T4 GPUs equipped with 320 Turing Tensor cores and support for Nvidia's GRID virtualization drivers.

Luna's server architecture is significantly different from that of Google's Stadia, which uses Linux-based data servers and Vulkan's open source graphics APIs. That means extra work for Stadia developers who have to port their existing games to Stadia's environment, which can sometimes lead to apparent graphical snafus.

Amazon hopes to avoid that hassle with Luna. "Our goal is to make porting games as low effort as possible" for developers, Amazon Luna Director of Product Oliver Messenger told Ars Technica. "We'll support existing Windows games... [Developers] don't need a new tech stack to port over. If there's a Windows version of their games, they can bring them over to our service in short order."
:ehh:

Amazon did not directly address questions on precisely how much control latency users could expect on the service, though.

Really gonna be interesting to see Google and Amazon duke it out in the cloud space while Sony & Microsoft are pushing the new consoles

i just got the eamil saying my trial is up. i can already tell this is not going to work.

how do you give a 7 day trial for a catalog of steam games in the time of free stadia with AAA blockbusters and free gear...months-long subscription trials? x-cloud on phones and tablets?

i dont understand who amazon is targeting here
