Thanks. What did you use to get your icons so close, also how do you activate the playbar? Whenever I touch an app playbar it doesn't launch the app.

Can't answer anything else but most launchers let you change the "grid" layout which determines spacing.

Yep my grid is portrait 9x8
Depending on what device you have, you might have to play with it to find the best grid.
Also, horizontal margin set to none and vertical margin set to none.

For uccw, in the settings turn hotspot on.

Nice looking. I have Nova and I never paid any attention to the "grid" layout option before.

I created it using Buzz Launcher. It's dope, let's people basically make homescreen layouts and you can download their exact layout onto your phone. It's actually not hard at all.

Used Buzz Custom Widget, UCCW, Minimalistic Text, Beautiful Widgets (weather), Simple Calendar (calendar), and Power Toggles (the music controls)

Used SiMi Folder to setup the side panel folders.

Only downside is that Buzz Launcher uses a good amount of battery, but I got the Note 2, so I don't mind. Still lasts me all day.

How do we download your layout? How long did that take you? One reason I haven't tried customizing is because it seems so time consuming.

There is a new Google feature that we all need to get use to in all their apps. How do you know if something is read or if someone is available?? The White card background= available/ unread. Gray card = read or unavailable. Gmail uses this on the mobile app. All unread email use a white card. When you read them they turn gray. The new Google+ desktop notification uses the Read vs unread or white and gray technique. Hangouts is the first app i noticed this in. On hangouts the user pic is white when they are available and the user pic is gray when they are unavailable / read. Expect this in other google apps from on now.

Next-gen ASUS Nexus tablet passes through the FCC

There’s no doubting that we are going to see a new Nexus tablet at some point this year, but the main question surrounds when we will see it. Now that Google I/O has come and gone, it’s even more up in the air. If a recent FCC filing discovered by Engadget is anything to go by, however, then we aren’t too far away from a launch at this point.

A device carrying the “ASUS Pad” moniker with the model number K009 has just made its way through the U.S. FCC, which usually means we are nearing a launch. The interesting thing is that under “brand name,” the filing also mentions the Nexus name. According to the documents, the device is packing a Qualcomm APQ-8064 S4 Pro quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno graphics, a 5MP rear facing camera, a front-facing shooter, a 4000mAh battery, and LTE capabilities for AT&T and T-Mobile. While no specific screen size is listed we’re assuming its a 7-inch device based on the smaller battery. A report last month claimed the device would come with a 1920×1200 7-inch display and launch at $199. That report said we could see the device ship as early as this month or next, which certainly makes sense based on the timing of the FCC filing.

The original Nexus 7 didn’t launch with LTE or rear-facing camera abilities, so that’s certainly nice to see.

The Future of TV

Google Fiber is certainly one of Google’s more audacious experiments and it’s now becoming clearer what the company’s long-term strategy is with its high-speed fiber Internet and television service. Barron’s points us to a new research note from Evercore Partners analyst Ken Sena, who just got back from seeing Google Fiber in action in Kansas City and who says that Google’s long-term goal with the service is to make television more of a web-based experience.

Specifically, Sena says that Google Fiber is “migrating more TV viewing and online behavior into Google’s cloud, and paving the way for YouTube, Google Play and other Google experiences to become a bigger part of the TV home viewing experience, even outside of fiber-deployed areas.” In other words, it seems as though Google sees live television becoming just another web application going forward. That said, it’s unlikely that Google will convince media companies to give up their current model of subscription-based television services in favor of live streaming over the web anytime soon.

Acer says Android is great as it is, won’t try to “fix” it

We found from our previous experiences of creating Android UIs that they are very difficult to maintain, especially keeping track with Google's migrations,

Android actually does a great job at serving up the right user experience and it allows people to migrate from one Android phone to another with relative ease.
