Even if our jays and the Yanks are tied in the AL East standings, they still hold the tiebreaker over the Yankees because they won the season series against them 8-5 this year. There’s another silver lining - the American League East division title is not lost yet despite that the multiple game lead over the Yankees has been quickly evaporated, but both our hitters and our pitchers need to wake up from their recent slump and get back on track before it’s too late.Had a 5 game lead just the other day

Our offense without shortstop Bo Bichette( out until the play-offs because of a sprained left knee ) and right outfielder Anthony Santander (who returned in the lineup tonight as a DH, but even though he’s playing now, he’s still recovering from a serious left shoulder injury) is so anemic lol. Our bats have no bark and no bite. It’s a Worrying situation to witness as we get closer to the playoffs.
Toronto only scored 13 runs in 7 games this week from sep 17 to sep 24, so if you divide 13 by 7, thry scored 1.85 run a game on average this week.. And they allowed 44 runs against, so they allowed 6,28 runs a game on average this week ( again you just have to divide 44 by 7)
Of course you can’t win ball games if you play like this.

The Jays held the tiebreaker over them (we won the season series 8-5 against the yanks)anyway so it didn’t even matter if they won, as long as we kept winning games , the AL Beast division was ours.

The Blue Jays finished higher in the standings than every other team in on Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani
The Mets just missed the playoffs with a 83-79 record and the blue jays finished the season with a better record (94-68 )than the defending World Series champions dodgers (93-69) this year
Yankees (94-68) the same record as the jays but we won the season series against 8-5, so we held the first tiebreaker over them. But I know that if Gerrit Cole was healthy and they found a way to resign Juan Soto, they would have won the division again. Toronto was lucky that Cole was out for the season and Soto decided to sign with the crosstown Mets.

On may 28, the Blue jays (27-28)were 8 games behind the first place Yankees(35-20) in the AL East. But they made a comeback and by July 3rd, they were 49-38. And the yanks were 48-39. So from may 28 to July 3rd, Toronto went 22-10.
And they made a comeback and led the AL East since July 3 after a 4-game series seeep of the Yankees at Rogers Centre/Skydome. Remember when veteran outfielder turned DH George springer hit a grand slam homerun on Canada Day, to put the Jays up 9-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning, in the second game of the four game series against the Yanks ?
Since that day (July 3rd) they never relinquished the division lead until the last week of the season when the Yankees tied them but never passed them. Because the jays won the season series 8-5 against them, and head to head season series is the first tiebreaker to settle the difference between the teams.
