What a statement game!
We destroyed them 10-1 in the series opener.
Everything went our way today. Varsho with great defensive reads and plays in the outfield, Vladdy was great with the bat and with the glove, Lukes as the hitter in the #2 spot was great with 3 RBIs, and he made a great defensive catch in the 5th, captain Kirk with two solo home runs, the hitters at the bottom of the batting order came out with big clutch hits to increase our lead and put the game away( Clement, gimenez)
Kevin « gaus » gausman was solid through 5 innings but he was showing signs of weakness in the 6th. That’s when the Yankees loaded the bases and scored a run off a RBI walk. He struck out Aaron judge but Then manager Schneider had enough and pulled Gaus from the mound. And relief pitcher Louis Varland entered the scene. Varland had a big strikeout against Giancarlo Stanton to escape a jam (bases loaded situation) then the rest of the bullpen ( Dominguez, Hoffmann) took over from varland and shut down the Yankees hitters.
Looks like Our Blue Jays won’t miss Bo Bichette’s bat at all if they hit the ball, work the pitch count and run the bases like today.
Hope they play like this against Max Fried, Cam Schittler or Carlos Rodon. Luis Gil is their weakest starting pitcher. We exploited him and got him out early.
It’s a Good thing for us that their bullpen(blow pen) sucks so much too. Rope a dope shyt, if we won’t get hits off their starters, we will wait until their relievers come in and feast on them instead. We have very productive, powerful, patient, smart and disciplined hitters all over the lineup. We roll deep and execute well. We can hit for power, contact and draw walks. We get on bases often . We are smart baserunners. We can steal bases too even though we were ranked 28th in the league this season when it comes to stolen bases, but Springer, Straw, Gimenez, varsho and clement still got speed to burn.
