I think it’s strong for like 85% of its run time and falls off the rails a bit by the end, but it’s a worthy sequel, and the most faithful modern Halloween take by far. I can’t write my thoughts out in sentence form, so I’m gonna bullet point things and spoiler tag some stuff:

It felt like a swerve for the sake of it, it felt unearned, and lacking any meaning or build, and ultimately just felt out of place. I’ll echo what I read someone else say, that they basically ran out of steam by the end and said fukk it. The final climax I didn’t have issues with, as I said before it made sense within the narrative of the movie and within the realm of believability to what the characters were.Diet Loomis turning heel.
