I suppose my view is that if the app has no real advantages that in itself is a disadvantage as I would have little reason to use it.

doesn't mean that the app isn't good, it's just that there seems to be little reason for me to migrate.

there is no requirement to have only one address ... so the answer to your implicaiton is no.

plus some variety of this could be a solution to peer-to-peer communication which can only be read (or even identified) by the recipient (or the originator)
